A growing problem of "Derailed" threads has been brought to the attention of the Moderators. We would like to ask everyone to please stay on topic, especially when people come here looking for help and advice.

There are hundreds of new MousePadders, and it can be very intimidating to have your legitimate question hijacked by regulars, and taken OT. Please be mindful of this when you are replying to a post. If your reply is OT, consider starting a new thread.

The Lounge is a great place to take OT discussions. If you would like help splitting a thread that has become OT, please ask a Moderator for help.

Thanks!

Point taken.
I am definitely guilty of this. Never has it been intentional. Unfortunately I type the way I talk... I go off into tangent city.
:):D
Thanks for the reminder, AVP.

I am also do this, it's hard to control. Like my Aunt's big problem with the word 'Geeze', she says it all the time. Wait, there I go again. :)

I too have been guilty of this ("how rude" of me!)

I'm curious though, if the thread started in the Lounge, is this less of an issue (if at all)?

If it started in the Lounge, no moderator will close the thread unless posters start breaking their user agreements by purposefully breaking them.

Each moderator has a different interpretation of how far off-topic things would go. For example, one moderator may be more strict about keeping all of the posts in a thread on topic, while another moderator may leave the thread alone as long as the posts are on-topic for the forum (but perhaps not the thread). Your mileage may vary. But in general, the Lounge is where you can hang out and be just chatty. :D
