First, you need to upload the picture to the web somehow. Find some free service that allows you to upload stuff and sign up for it (avoid Geocities as it does not allow direct linking to pictures from other sites). Once you've managed to upload the picture, use the IMG tag and the address of the picture you've uploaded in order to display it. This is the format you'll use: http://nameofserver/your_username/nameofpicture . When I type in http://homepage.mac.com/landofmakebelieve/.Pictures/singing.jpg (without the spaces between the IMG tags and the URL, I get this:
http://homepage.mac.com/landofmakebelieve/.Pictures/singing.jpg
The only real trick is finding a service that will let you upload the picture.

Let me add a couple of caveats. First, please do not post photos that you yourself did not take. If the photo was taken by someone else, we ask that you have permission from the photographer to repost it. If the photo has a copyright notice on it, you need to check the copyright statement at the Web site the photo is from. Most places will not allow you to repost photos without their permission.

If you do this, we will remove the photo and send you a warning. If you do it continually, you will put your standing in jeopardy.

If you have more than one photo, we also ask that you be considerate in setting up a photo album somewhere, instead of simply posting the photos here in posts. Not everybody on MousePad wants to deal with the extra time photos take to load.

Finally, do be aware that people don't have to be registered on MousePad to read posts here. If you would prefer that only specific people have access to photos, you might consider simply emailing the photos to them. This may be the case particularly for photos of private homes, and rooms of minor children.
