The word on the street Tuesday was that cable giant Comcast is negotiating to buy the 40 percent of E Entertainment Television -- the guys behind the popular E channel -- that it doesn't already own.
Comcast isn't commenting. But various reports say the company is set to pay hundreds of millions of dollars to Walt Disney Co. to take sole possession of E, which specializes in celebrity news, gossip and glitzy red-carpet arrivals preceding award ceremonies.
The question is: Why?
