This will be our third trip to disney but only first with 4 kids all under 9. We are staying at the yacht club (liked the pool) on the concierge level (for the extra snacks ) and going on the dining plan (hope this was a good idea). Can anyone give me info on feeding an under 3 child. Can we get her a kids plate or does she have to eat off our plates. Do they charge for sharing? Also we are going the last week in Aug and first in Sept. Any ideas on how bad crowds are? Any info will help. We have not been there:) in 12 years. Thanks

It depends on where you are dining.

At buffets, she can get her own plate.

For family style, she can get her own plate.

For a la carte ordering, it's a bit more convoluted, and depends on the restaurant and server.

They do not charge for sharing, and frankly, with the portion sizes, I heartily encourage it!! LOL!

You're going at a hot, relatively quiet period of time. College and regular students are in school, and it's not yet built up for the fall events. A great time to go!

Thanks for the info on the dining plan. Can anyone tell me if the yacht club concierge is worth the price? I've read that the hotel needs a little updating and the concierge food offerings have not been as good as in past years. Is this true? Thanks for any info.

Yacht Club concierge is one of our family's favorite locations. You can see our room and resort pictures here: http://mickeymac.smugmug.com/gallery/323974

We love lagoon-view - the lights are beautiful along the Boardwalk http://mickeymac.smugmug.com/photos/12873470-S.jpg

if you request a room facing Epcot, you can see the higher fireworks at Illuminations each evening. http://mickeymac.smugmug.com/photos/12873447-S.jpg

The IPO pre-planning team has a reputation of being the among the best on property; quick to attend to your emails and phone calls; very personable and polite. The on-site concierge staff has been wonderful to us - I always have something going on for work and they've sent packages for me, picked up stuff, printed stuff, you name it, and all volunteered. One time, they even assisted when my daughter was sick and we had an unplanned visit to Care Medical.

I wish I had photos of the food offerings. I'm sure I do, actually, just need to locate them. I think what you are hearing reports of is the standardizing of the concierge offerings across property. We find it to be more than adequate for our needs, and less wasteful on the hotels part. We will have breakfast in the lounge every morning (bagels, cereal, krispy kremes, assorted pastrieds, fresh fruit) We kinda missed out on the mid-day snacks (uncrustables, cookies, goldfish, gummy worms, soda, water, teas, coffee) but usually made it back in time for the appetizers, wine and beer (cheese, crackers, veggies and dip, one or two hot appetizers and a soup, normally) Dessert was always heavenly (heavy on the chocolate, and the mousse was awesome!) and the cordials more than plentiful.

Again, we love it. The Yacht Club is my husband's favorite resort to stay at, and we've stayed in a number of different room categories there. He, and my son, both prefer concierge, due to the food and extra attention/assistance you receive, which, with young children, is always nice. :)

When I went down for the first time with an under 3 - I had the assumption that with most of what I was reading - kids eat free for under 3 that it meant everywhere. That is true at buffets and family style but not at other restaurants. I am not sure what I was thinking at the time but was shocked at some of the prices I had to pay for a child's plate. I would recommend that if they are not a picky eater that you let them eat off of yours or when you order one of the other kids' that you ask for a second plate. They will not charge you for that. I know at Cinderella's royal table, the macaroni and cheese could feed 3 kids. I was soo tempted to split it with another table that was ordering it also because it was wayyyyy too much food. Disney does not mind kid's sharing plates.
