We just got back from DL and I wanted to put in a thanks and a plug for a good tip I got here before we left.

To help children prepare for the rides visit http://www.visionsfantastic.org/ before you go and watch the videos of the rides. I wanted my kids to be able to experience the Matterhorn and POTC if they wanted to in the park. DS is only 2.5 and freaked at the concept of the local haunted house last Halloween but I really thought he would enjoy the rides if he got familiar with them. He decided to pass on Matterhorn but LOVED pirates. He said "Whee" going down the drops, was looking for scenes he saw on the video at home(skeleton in bed, burning buildings) and was more engaged than if he was taking it all in for the first time.

DD is 5 and loves fast rides but I was afraid that Harold on the Matterhorn would be too much for her. He was. She hid from him all 3 times but she knew he was coming and he would only yell 3 times and she loved the Matterhorn.

Anyway, consider this tip if you think your kids will enjoy the rides more if they are familiar with them - mine did!:D
