Looking at the new construction pictures of Knott's Xcellerator, is it possible for Superman at SFMM to have a similar element? Imagine taking off up the right tower, take twist, and then come down the left tower! It would take some pretty good engineers to make it work, as well as changing the station around, but it could be a great idea!
Also, Vekoma now makes trains for Suspended coasters like Ninja, but are actually floorless! That certainly would breathe some new life into that ride.

How about taking off on the vertical which is a gigantic loop?
hehehe.

i don't think they would do it...
they would also need to redesign the cars because they aren't designed to take turns or twist or anything
that would cost way too much... they'd probably put in a new ride first.

Hi everyone, I haven't been around for awhile.
Rumor (rumor only) from my friend that builds the rides at SFMM is that Superman will be taken out in the next couple of years.
1) expensive to run
2) IT'S TOO LOUD!!!!!!!!
A regular coaster as you guys describe does sound cool.

Remember that rides such as Superman are designed specifically for the purpose intended and that means that they don't usually allow for a great deal of modifications after the fact.
For SFMM, if they wanted to install a new coaster similar to the one at Knott's with a launch into the vertical followed by a vertical return to ground level, they could simply by an off-the-shelf coaster like the Hypersonic XLC coaster found at King's Dominion which features a coaster riding on Pneumatic tires that launches up a 200ft tower and then goes right over the top and back down another 200ft to ground level in a vertical drop - imagine what the SFMM guys could do with that one if they used some of the prevailing terrain to lengthen the vertical drop by a hundred feet or more?
So expect something new long before you would ever see any interest in a prohibitively expensive retooling of Superman ........
