I have been thinking about this -- we are still a ways away from official homeschooling (boys are 23 months and 3 1/2 years old), but those of you who homeschool, do you try to incorporate "homeschool" stuff into your DL trips -- or those of you who live in the area - do you plan homeschool DL trips? As I know some places you have to have a certain number of hours each year of homeschooling...I would love to hear ideas on lessons that you could do for this...
Here are some of the ideas that I had (however good or bad they might be)...
Have a lesson in animation - visit the animation building, and then have an art project to create your own new animated character
At DCA, you could incorporate the history behind Paradise Pier and the old amusment parks - as well as history and geography of California
Lessons in money/finances - have them help plan the trip - with budgets and such - finding good deals on travel/tickets, etc. Also in the park, they might have a goal of getting gifts for x number of friends with x number of dollars - budgeting and figuring out how much they can spend on each friend.
This may be more difficult (and obviously for older kids) - have some physics lessons with the rides -- maybe try to find out how long some of the tracks (by inquiring at city hall) are for various rides and have them time them to figure out how fast the rides go - or if you can find out how fast it goes and the length of the ride, then you can calculate in feet how long the tracks are
Disney Gallery - art appreciation
General Sociology - observing how people interact and react in certain situations -- discuss with kids what it means and have them write about it
I would love to hear other peoples' creative ideas for this...
