If we are not supposed to resurect old threads, but we have a question about a certain topic, then why do we get flamed by others stating that we should look up old threads and basically not waste peoples times.

If you have a question that is based on an older thread, you can start a new thread, linking the older thread and then asking your question. If the thread is only a month or two old, that's one thing, but when it's a couple of years old, or a four and a half year old thread, really no reason to resurrect it.
