View Full Version : Millenium Falcon Mac Mini! Lani 02-28-2006, 12:30 PM Pretty cute! (http://www.macmod.com/content/view/371/2/) Andrew 02-28-2006, 12:45 PM It's Slashdotted, but here is the Coral Cache (http://www.macmod.com.nyud.net:8080/content/view/371/2/). Opus1guy 02-28-2006, 01:01 PM Both of those links just produce... MacMod - Your Mac Modding HQ This site is temporarily unavailable. We are experiencing high traffic, please check back. ...for me. :( Will try again later. Andrew 02-28-2006, 01:40 PM The Coral Cache link in my post above definitely works. It's a slow loader, but it works. cstephens 02-28-2006, 02:04 PM The Coral Cache link in my post above definitely works. It's a slow loader, but it works. Doesn't work for me. I get a "cannot find server" message: "The page cannot be displayed. The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings." Andrew 02-28-2006, 02:14 PM you may need to adjust your browser settings. Did you try adjusting your browser settings? That always works for me. No, you're right, even the Coral Cached version seems down now. Odd. Short version: guy disassembles a plastic Millennium Falcon toy, Dremels out the interior support pieces, inserts a de-cased Mac Mini. He also hot-glued a USB port to the entrance hatch and stuck an iSight camera in the cockpit. Opus1guy 02-28-2006, 04:18 PM After trying all day, the Coral Cached link finally worked for me. Started off staring at a blank white window for about a minute...but it didn't error-out! Then the window took on a shade of grey, and sat like that for another minute or two. But progress! Finally data started to flow into the browser and pictures and text started to appear. Yeah! Got it! I uploaded an .mht file of the web page to: http://members.aol.com/opus1guy/uploads/millmini.mht ...so any of you with a more recent version of Internet Explorer for Windows might find it easier to see from there (though AOL's FTP servers are sometimes sluggish themselves). In any event it's a pretty big 2mb file (lots of photos), so allow time to load. It's pretty cool in a geeky sort of way! :) IndySpacePirate 03-08-2006, 10:36 AM I'll most likely be getting one of these - the 1.66 Ghz Core Duo model, for video editing and graphics design. Final Cut Pro will probably run decently and I'll definitely be using ffmpegX for video conversion to Quicktime H.264. |
