Just curious: how many messages make the box full? And do the copies of the messages I've sent count towards that number?

Everything counts--sent messages, received messages, message tracking...the whole ball of wax. I think I've had like 90 messages before it backed up on me--don't know the exact number. I'll bet Tony can answer that one.

So, please. Take a minute and delete. It's a special trip down memory lane. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll shake your fist in anger.

I don't have anywhere near 90 private messages (and I suddenly feel very unpopular). However, I will clean out my PM box if someone promises to send me more to replace them.

Hon, I've been posting here almost a whole year--I should have 300 private messages by my calculation. I'm not popular, just long-lasting.

You don't have to delete ALL of them. Save a few special ones to visit and sigh over :D (she says, taking a shot in the dark)

My PM box is full at 70.

Currently my PM box is NOT full.

So apparently lisap 1- isn't talking to me and 2- isn't trying to PM me.

Thank you, LisaP! WeTheModerators would be just delighted if everyone would be so kind as to go clean out their PM boxes RIGHT NOW! Ok, so, maybe not right now, but as soon and as frequently as you can remember. It's just one of those nice things you can do to keep MousePad running nice and smoothly.

To answer the pending question, the limit to private messages is 70. If you have 70 (including sent messages that you saved a copy of), no-one can send you additional messages.

As AVP mentioned, reducing the number of PMs in your box does reduce space demands on our server. It hasn't been a problem yet, but if it does become one, just be aware that I can delete all private messages in about 10 seconds flat.... :cool:

This all started as a way to teaze Mad4mky, whom I was trying to PM the other night and couldn't. But can you believe I have run into full PM boxes at least three other times?! (actually, one of those times was my own box, which actually was at 70, not at 90 like I thought.)

And here's another sad fact--If you fail to retreive your PM when you log on, the next time you come back to Mouse Pad, the little yellow light will be off and you may NEVER KNOW you had a message from someone! :crying: I know several people (who should know better) who have had that happen.

So, in conclusion,

1. Check your messages everyday
2. Delete when done reading
3. Send a few PMs to make your friends feel loved

You are correct. There is an option in your profile that allows you to receive and email notification. Go to this link: http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/member.php?s=&action=editoptions and look for the "Send you an email when you receive a Private Message?" option about halfway down the page.

The message will still show up as being "unread." And there is an "unread" message number down in your mailbox area. This does require that someone look down to the bottom of the page about an 1/8th of an inch lower than where the yellow light is. But I have confidence in people.
