No, inline images are not permitted in signatures.

Just out of curiosity, why can't we put pics in our sigs or more pics in posts? I am just wondering since so many other sites allow you to.

Gracias.

The inline image policy (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?t=10101) goes into more detail, but the quick answer is that keeping inline images to a minimum in both size and number keeps the board operating at a reasonable speed. Not naming names, but I'm sure you've seen message boards where there are no limits to inline images in posts and signatures; how long does it take you to load a thread with 50 posts, each one of which has a 640x480 image in its signature?

You're always welcome to link to images, of course, rather than inlining them.

You're not kidding! Try accessing one of those other boards from a dial-up internet connection and a single page can take minutes to load!

Not to mention I find them rather difficult to read with all the clutter and mega photo'd signature lines and stuff.

But then again, I even have Avatar viewing turned off in my MousePad Preferences in order to make my MousePad visits quick and clean and easy to read.

I am still a little green to whole message board thing, so this is probably an easy question... How do you add a picture to your avatar? I can not figure it out. I am sure it's right under my nose, but any help would be great.

Yes, and many of us definitely appreciate the cleaner sigs here.

Being able to add a picture as an avatar is an added benefit of being a MousePad supporter. Read all about it here:

This is another reason we put limits on .sigs and inline images. I think you could say it's part of our stylistic vision for our message board. And since I'm not the person who originally suggested these guidelines, I'll add that I'm a big appreciater/supporter of the policies, too. :)

I like the fact we have small avatars here, some places are way to big. but it would be cool to have a small ( 75x 75 pic in our sigs to. but I am cool with what ever. what I like some do not, I love animated smilies, some don't but its all cool.

I've been meaning to say this 'outloud' here too. I recently 'turned on' the avatars, but on other boards I've had to turn off the signatures - it just takes too many scrolls of the mouse 'button' to get to the next content.

I too appreciate not having the pics in the sigs. It is noce though to be able to look at multiple pictures in a post right along with the text, especially if it is a trip report, pictures of food, etc. I understand that people are dumb though and would not post appropriately.

I didn't know you could do that. I will have to do it.

Add me to the list of those that don't like the overcluttered sig lines. It is very distracting to weed through all that excess stuff. It is clean here.

I do like the benefit of avatars, however, lets each person be individual, lets us often see what you look like, and helps me to pick out each poster by their avatar.

I went to another site the other day and most people seemed to have at least 6/7 line I even saw several with about 15...makes it very hard to read the actual posts.
