Steve Jobs's Magic Kingdom (http://yahoo.businessweek.com/technology/content/jan2006/tc20060126_116869.htm)

The alliance between Jobs and Disney is full of promise. If he can bring to Disney the same kind of industry-shaking, boundary-busting energy that has lifted Apple and Pixar sky-high, he could help the staid company become the leading laboratory for media convergence.

Forgive me if this was mentioned already in an article or thread I haven't read, but here's a most interesting comment from the article:

When he returned to Apple as part of the next acquisition, he insisted he didn't want Amelio's job, and then quickly took charge. Already, there's speculation in Silicon Valley that Disney's chief could get "Amelioed."

There are a few problems with that Steve Jobs adoration statement.

1) Apple is hardly "sky-high". With the exception of the iPod, which even Apple admits is nearing the end of its run of market dominance, Apple remains a niche, barely profitable company stuck in the doldrums.
2) Pixar's success has VERY little do with Jobs, unless you can credit him with leaving them alone enough to excel on their own. Credit Lassiter and the top-notch Pixar staff for their success, not the in absentia CEO.
3) Disney is already the leading laboratory for media convergence. They basically pioneered the concept, and if truth be told it was Eisner's focus on corporate synergy across Disney brands and media methods that started the craze. Any author who describes Disney as "staid" clearly pays more attention to hearsay than facts.

I think it is terrible does not have the insight, personel, and tallent to make their animation the top in the industry again. Instead they must spent $7 Billion+ on a hope that they can make back their investment. I wonder how many movies it will take for Disney animation to net $7Billion in profit? I say 25 years +.
