I am a huge WdW fan but we are making our first trip to DL next month. Can anyone give advice as to which day would be better to visit. On a Saturday (18th) or President's Day which is a Monday holiday. Any other advice would be great too!

Well I will tell you this I live down here and My kids have the day off on Monday. I would think that whole weekend is going to be busy.

I just went this past Monday (MLK Day) and while it was fairly busy, everybody seemed to leave at around 6pm. We walked right up to the castle for fireworks at 9:15! It was a great day. I guess everybody had to get home to go to work the next day. It worked out for me! :)

That whole weekend is likely to be busy, as it is a 3-day weekend with Monday being President's Day.

Saturday is a blockout day for all APs except Premium though, so it might cut down on the crowds. Monday is open to Deluxe AP-holders.

I was going to suggest Monday also. Guests at the hotels need to check out and usually do in the morning which is very busy and takes a long time. That will keep the resort guests out of the park for a while, then they go home to get to work Tuesday. However, the locals will be there but probably not real early.

What is a "blockout day"? Just curious. I am thinking maybe Monday is our best bet. We are lucky in that we have Tues off school where we live so we don't have to be out early on Monday to fly home.

Is it worth spending the extra money and staying at the Resort or would a off site hotel be just as good. Guess what I am asking...is there onground transportation like at WDW or do you have to drive in from the resorts.

Most of the hotels are within walking distance or are on ART (tranisit system). I havent been to WDW, but my understanding is, everything is spread out. DL is not like that at all! It would actually take you longer to drive to the parking garage and catch the tram vs just walking from the hotel. Most are under 1/2 mile.

edit: a block out day is a day that annual pass holders are blocked out from coming. They have to pay $30 if they want to visit that day.

While we are talking about that time period- anyone care to speculate Feb 22-26?

I'm tossing around the idea of surprising the kids. With dh's airmiles for his ticket, a discount I have with expedia, and the kids play free special I think I can do 4 nights (3 full days in the park) for about $1300 including airfare from Seattle and a stay at hojos. Not to bad of a price.

That's when I'm going. We leave the 19th and come home on the 24th. I spoke with a lady at the dining reservations line and she said that other than the weekend they were expecting it to be rather slow.

A little rain wouldnt bother us. We are, after all, from Seattle! :p

The park times look good. They are actually a little longer hours that week compared to the week before.

If you could stay for two nights and are planning to stay on-site, you could get Fast Pass Bonus (Enhanced Fast pass, or whatever they are calling it now) with a AAA package, and it would REALLY help save time in terms of waiting in line. That weekend will probably be really busy, and anything to save time in line is worth it to me, especially if it's your first time.
