Congratulations to all who finished, or at least attempted, the half-marathon; both those whom we can identify, and those that we won't find out about until they get back and post themselves!

OK, of those that posted their bib numbers and a few notables, here's what I've been able to assemble so far:

I'm a bit concerned about Lani and Alex as they both do not show finish times, or even 10-mile splits. I'm afraid that they had to DNF.

What is DNF?

I was listening to Lani (it was her, right?) on the podcast yesterday, and the whole show made me want to take up running again. Afraid to go against Len though - geez!

What are some of the other events that are going on, or is there a thread to read about it?

What is DNF?DNF = did not finish, i.e. they had to withdraw for some reason, or were swept.

Yay! It looks like they were just late in posting Lani & Alex's times!

I don't know ericles' last name or hometown, but there were only four Leslies registered from Maryland, and all finished! So no matter what, ericles finished! Yay!

My pleasure. But I think that I've exhausted my list of people that I might be able to track down on the half, so this will be it until the others come back and post themselves.

Tomorrow, I'll try to track down the full marathon finishers after we get back from Family Ed at Sunday School. First report probably around 12:30 EST, 9:30 PST, unless somebody beats me to it.

Thanks, Mark. Was I hallucinating, or were the last three miles all uphill? The half course seemed a lot harder this year than last. Might have been that Vaseline I ate at mile 8, thinking it was some sort of high-tech peanut butter.

Nothing can beat Mike Scopa's story, however. The next time you're having a bad day, think about waking up at 2:30 in the morning, standing for two hours in 33 degree weather, running six miles, twisting your ankle, then running seven more. That's what happened to Mike. Now that is a bad day.

Hey, Mox ran, too!Well, briskly walked anyway. Thanks, Mark, for keeping track and thanks, AK, for the shout out. It felt really good to cross the finish line.

I tried Gu last year and the Clif version of Gu this year and thought that they were both rather foul tasting. At least this year I knew enough to hold on to some water to wash it down.

I might have enjoyed the burning sensation from the muscle rub (ohhh! Cinnamon!)...the Vaseline had a waxlike consistency. And if you're wondering, it has no taste.

Oh, and it was impossible to squeeze out the Cliff Shots gel when they were stored outside in 33 degree weather. I...I can't remember the last time I threw away food, and chocolate at that. Had I been better hydrated, I would have wept.

Mark,

Yep - you guessed right! Melanie is my wife - she did really well in the 1/2 and the full! Goofy done now for both of us, and we did the 5k as well - if we were travelling that far, we wanted to get every medal we could!

Len

Yeah - we did all 3 races. The 5K medal is a rubber one with the Chicken Litle 5K logo on it - nothing like the big metal ones for the 1/2 and the full. But something else to put on the board for our medals here at home! We decided to get all the hardware that we could while we were there - there were 4 medals available so we got them all. I'm really glad there weren't 5 - I don't think my legs would have survived another race!!

Brian, would you be able to share a photo of your winner board with us? I would love to see all the medals. especially the Goofy one. Congrats on your achievement!

No problem - I have one at home (I'm at work right now!!) so I'll update this thread with a URL to see it! And Thanks!

One of the most frequent questions I have been getting is "How are your legs?" My answer - remember the character Mr. Tudball in the old Carol Burnett show, and how he walked? That's kinda what my wife and I looked like on Sunday night as we went through Orlando Airport!! But they are getting better every day! :)

Hi guys, we're back. We flew home late last night and am trying to catch up with work, email, and MousePad all at the same time.

I am very pleased with my time considering I had almost zero training for this. I do NOT recommend my method, and I don't think it will work for people who don't already have a baseline. That is, I was able to do an easy 12 to 13-minute-mile pace to about mile 6, after which I incorporated walking. After I was out of the Magic Kingdom altogether, I did more walking than jogging. I knew I'd make the cut-off time, I wasn't competing against anyone, and I didn't want to injure myself.

That said, it's time for me to get back in shape. My half-marathon PR is 2:10, and I'd like to get back to something similar for September's Disneyland Half.

Did you register those chips at the expo?
