Hello - I am planning a 'birthday' trip with my two best friends. We want to go for three days, and I am trying to figure out the BEST time, considering:

1. Crowds - we want to go when there are the smallest crowds (of course we will stay away during President's weekend and we want to go BEFORE the spring break crowds
* Are conventions something we should look at? What other factors would affect crowds during that time?

2. Hours - I know that the hours are shorter during this time of year, so I at least want one or two of our days to be weekend hours

3. Availability - I would really like to stay at the DGC.

I am thinking either
Feb 9-11 0r the first week in March.

any advice???

thanks

Its such a guess these days. In years past, either weekend would have probably been good. With the 50th who knows! I would start by seeing what you can find for hotel availability and if airfare rates if you are flying. March weather might be a little better, but with better weather, you see more crowds.

Well since according to RideRefurb.com and others, The Haunted Mansion is closed for refurb January 18-March 5 and Pirates of the Caribbean is going to be closed March 6-June 22. if you go March 4th-6th or 5th-7th you can make both. The only 3 days for 6 Month next year  We are going March 3-9 for this reason and are staying at the GCH.

My husband and I usually travel wed-friday. Fridays are technically "weekend" days, so the parks are open a bit longer, but they aren't quite as crowded as saturdays. We are planning on going on sunday-tuesday this trip. I've heard that sundays are more like fridays than saturdays. I'm a bit nervous about it. But we have found that travelling on a weekday makes all the difference when it comes to seeing the park. You can do so much so quickly that the shorter hours don't bother us - in fact, it's a relief to get off our feet after racing around the park all day. I suspect that POTC will be a zoo on the last day it's open, but I really want to go on it again, so we're planning our trip to overlap it's last open day. We missed HM this last trip because it was closed for refurb, so we're going to probably travel the 5-7. I only hope that a lot of other people don't plan the same thing. Oh well, if they do, we'll manage. There are always ways to have fun at DL. :-)
