Okay, I'm no computer genius. I know the very basics of word prosessing, how to turn on and off the computer, and how to go online. If I use words like "thingy" please understand that my computer lingo vocab is limited. lol
For the last day or so, my computer insists on being online. As soon as I turn on the computer and the desktop shows up, the dang thing starts dialing. Yesterday, on a site that doesn't cycle ads or whatnot, I had shortened the window and had logged off to call my mom real quick. The whole time I was on the phone with her, the darn thing kept trying to dial up! It's never done this before, and I can't figure out what the heck is going on.
My computer is a 4 or 5 year old iMac, I'm running OS9, and I have a dial-up modem through our phone company. Yeah, I know, pretty old stuff- but I can't afford to get a new comp or DSL, and I've been told that putting in OSX will make our computer slower (which doesn't make any sense to me). Please no Apple bashing, I don't want to start a heated debate -I just want to figure out how to make it go back to the way it was.
Thanks. :)
