Hi all - I just luckily stumbled across this forum. I have a question regarding spectators for the half and full marathon. Does anyone have any hints on where the best places are to watch the race? Is it possible to move along the course to see the same runner in several places? I have heard that the Disney tram is crowded and slow so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I am also interested in the spectator issue. Is it possible for family to use a private car and move from point to point, or are all the roads closed for the run. Are there busses at the start that take them to other places like AK. Thanks for any help.
Hi dash and Marathonmom! Traditionally, Disney has included some spectator information in their race packets. And historically, we should all be receiving our packets in the mail just about now. I sent feelers out this morning to see if anyone on the Disney side is willing to give me info in advance, but if you are interested in spectating for the half-marathon course I'm really not sure what to expect because of the change in the course for next year.
You CAN drive and get around during the marathon, but I would strongly discourage anyone from using it as a dependable form of transportation during the event, because there are various road closures and traffic jams. Also, keep in mind that although you might be able to drive around, you still have to park, and walk to the course areas. Some locations are easier to get to driving, while others are not very practical.
I'm hoping I'll get the details and be able to publish them for the December installment of the marathon guide... part of the reason I haven't yet is because I haven't been able to get the information from Disney.
If you time it right, and depending on the speed of the entrant, you should probably be able to see them in about four or five locations. But that's REALLY huffing it.
They DO run the monorails and parking lot trams during the marathon. I just need to get the official times from them on when/where (for example, they have a set time period during which they allow spectators on Main Street, before shuffling everyone so they can open the park to the public). Hopefully I'll be able to gather the stuff in the next few weeks.

Thank you Lani for the information. I look forward to your future information on the subject!
FYI I've got my feelers out with folks at Disney and they've gotten back to me, but they haven't publically released the info yet.
Lani - thanks for all the info! I'll keep checking back for the details.

GREAT article about spectators today on MousePlanet -- makes me want to go just to cheer people on (even though you guys are the only ones I'd know who are running!)
Just read your article. It was great. Thank you much!
