I would love to purchase a photo of Walt, but have had no luck finding what I want. I want a photo approximately 11x17, preferably color, of Walt by himself, suitable for framing.

I looked all over WDW in Feb. on our vacation; even the Art of Disney store had a very limited selection (4 photos), and none with Walt alone; the one of him on the cover of his bio (sitting on the edge of his desk) would be perfect as a portrait!

Can anyone steer me toward a source?

Well, I've been digging around trying to find a source for you. Nothing exactly like you want, but I've got a few leads for you.

First, the JustDisney.com (http://www.justdisney.com) Web site boasts a very extensive collection of Walt Disney photos. Most of these look to be scanned in from the various biographical/history of Disney books. I'd contact them and find out if they can point you to a source for photos only without having to buy books. Of course, if you want to buy a Disney book, you will come back and buy through us? Hehehe, just a shameless plug here. :)

Second, I know that the Disneyana store at Disneyland does sell the photo of Walt walking into Fantasyland early one morning. If you'd like the photo, give them a call.

Third, if you're going back to WDW, might I suggest the Studio Store at D-MGM Studios that's right next to where the Animation Tour lets out. I feel that their selection of Disneyana is far better than any of the Art of Disney stores, imho.

There are a ton of art and collectible Web site galleries out there selling all sorts of Disneyana. Go to Google.com and just type in "Walt Disney photo art gallery" or something like that, and you should get some hits.

Finally, I would suggest writing the Walt Disney Company directly, to the attention of the Publicity Department and ask nicely for a publicity photo of Walt. They just might help you out! Their address:

Thanks so much for all your efforts Sheila! I will follow through on all of your suggestions, as we are building a new house and want to have Walt's photo as part of the decor!

We are major-league Disney fanatics! While we are WDW veterans, we are new to Mouseplanet, and really enjoy it!! We are returning to WDW in April and will continue the search; if we have any luck we'll let you know; otherwise we'll follow out your suggestions when we return home...
