Thanks for today's article.

Two weeks ago, my youngest daughter, Dana, and I went down to DLR to celebrate her 15th birthday.
For her birthday dinner treat, I took her to "Medieval Times" in Buena Park. Before we left for the dinner...we discussed if we would rather come back to DLR for the rest of the evening...or head over to Movieland Wax Museum. We were both excited to opt for the Wax Museum.

The Medieval Times was GREAT. Neither of us had ever been and we really enjoyed both the show and the meal.
We were all jazzed up after the show and took the short walk across the street to the Movieland Wax Museum.

To our sadness...the place was closed. It was only 8:10 pm...the place was closed...on a Friday night!!
The sign said it closed at 5pm. I thought...'come on...this is a tourist place, or a great date place...how can it be closed???'

I had been there many years ago, probably before Dana was even born, with her father. We really enjoyed it. I had wanted Dana to see it.

So, it wasn't a surprise to me when I read in the SF Chronicle that the wax museum was closing.:crying:
Heck, if they can't stay open past 5pm on a Friday night, of course they are not going to 'make it'!!:(

After being so jazzed up from the Medieval Times...we kinda got disappointed about the museum being closed. Bummer.
So...what did we do....go back to DLR of course!:D

But, it's sad to see the place close. Luckily, we live close enough to the Wax Museum in SF, so we can go there. But for some reason...that little diversion by DLR and Knott's just seemed to add to the fun of the whole 'southern California' thing to me.

Sad to see it close.

Hey mad4mky

I went to DLR in the last week of Sept and on one of the off days from the park, I decided to go to the WM while the family went shopping. I called ahead and was advised that it takes roughly 1.5 - 2 hours to see everything.
Well I was able to see the whole museaum twice in two hours. Quite a few of the displays were excellent and a couple were so-so. There is an amazing Star Trek display from the old crew. One note of complaint is that quite a few of the wax figures were starting to turn brown from the lights.

After the museum I still had an hour or so to kill, so I walked through all the stores at Knotts. I have some pictures of the museum. If you would like to see them, let me know.

Take care

Thanks for the offer!
I did get to see that particular museum myself, years ago. I was more disappointed for my daughter, who had never been.
But, we live about 20 minutes south of San Francisco. We have a wax museum up there (at Fisherman's Wharf)...and I promised her...that someday I'll take her in.
In the meantime, I'll ask her if she wants to see your pictures...:D
(And, didn't you enjoy the shops outside of Knott's? I like doing that even better than going into the park!:D ).
