Hey everyone,

We are in the middle of our trip planning for a trip coming up in two weeks and wouldn't you know it my 9 year old son broke his big toe last night. He went to the ER this morning to have the blood drained from under the nail and xrays and as luck would have it he is out of p.e. for 8 weeks. The doctor told me that luckily because he is young he should be ok in time for our trip but that he needs to be careful ie. watch out for others steping on it, and rest it often since he will be in more pain from the limping around than from the injury itself. I was hoping that somebody here could give us some advice. We are planning on staying for three days at the park and I don't want to pay for a wheelchair or lug one around if he doesn't really need it. We will be with a larger group with younger kids. So I suppose he could sit in one of the strollers if he has to (he only weighs 57lbs.) What do you guys think?

Bless his heart- and yours! I think he'd be fine in a stroller- he might be more comfy in a double. I'd also give him plenty of motrin (if Doctor agrees) to help with the discomfort, and to make touring easier on him. My child had a broken toe once, (not the great toe), and she kept it taped to it's neighbor- she said it helped it not hurt as much.
I'd almost be tempted to put him in steel toed boots for the parks! The thought of someone stepping on it makes me shiver. Ouch.

I Believe that strollers and Wheelchairs are about the same price because 20 Dollars of the wheelchair price is refundable after you return it.
A 57 pound year old 9 year old should fit in a stroller just fine my daughter who is now 10 used one until this past year. Sorry that he injured his toe that is no fun. I hope that it feels better by the time you go so it is not painful :-(
Have a wonderful trip!

hi,
when we first visit WDW with my family, my dd was very young then (7) and was very tiny in weight... she had injured her leg before the trip and she didnt want any attention such as a stroller or a wheelchair so when she was getting too tired or i was seeing her limping too much i would carry her on my back or my shoulders (im a tall and broad build guy) and we had a lot of fun...
Hope u can find a good solution for ur little one
Take care
David

You should be able to get a Guest Assistance Card for him that will allow the use of a stroller as a wheelchair.
