I am considering purchasing the dining plan for an upcoming trip but I have a couple of questions:

1. We booked through DVC and have annual passes, so we wouldn't be buying a package. Can dining just be purchased seperately?

2. We only have two registered guests in our hotel room although four of us will be traveling. This was just because we didn't know who was going to be coming when we booked. We are not big eaters, so could I just buy the dining plan for two or three people and share?

3. This is a somewhat silly question, but with the dining plan it says you get an appitizer, entree, dessert, and beverage at the table service locations. What qualifies as an appetizer? Are salads included?

I am pretty sure you have to have a package to get the dining plan, and cannot purchase it seperately.

We just bought APs and recently I called to get the Disney Dining Experience card for $50, and you get 20% off at listed places. This thread talks about it: http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?t=48200

Have to have a package to get the dining plan.

Everyone in the room has to be on the same package.

Not sure how they deal with more people in the room than on the reservation (in general, even).

You CAN get a package with just a one-day one-park ticket, and the dining plan is tied to how many nights stay you have.

HOWEVER, I'm not sure you can do DVC and package - I THINK they are mutually exclusive, but since I haven't looked too far into the whole DVC thing, I'm not very sure here.

You do not have to all eat on the dining plan at each meal (for instance, if there's 3 people, you could share 2 appetizers, each get an entree, and share 2 desserts, and 'pay' with 2 dining options and 'cash' for the one entree. You can also do this to 'save' dining options for the places that require 2 options.

Not as far as I know, but you can always call DVC and check. My understanding, though, is no.

You can always call DVC and add two more. It shouldn't change your location priority ranking to make that change. Also, that way they won't look at you funny when you ask for four room keys. But, as Drince88 said, everybody has to be on the same package (which I've already said that I don't think you can do with DVC).

However, as FigmentFigment noted, the Disney Dining Experience card can save you a boatload of money. With an AP, the DDE card is $50, and you break even after $250 of restaurant bills. You can get an order form right off of the passholder web site.
