Hong Kong is definitely going after tourism in a big way - as the "gateway to China" and with it's obvious "Western Europe comes to Asia" flavor, HK stands to be in position to really draw in the tourist traffic in the region.

Last month's WIRED also had an article on the coming of Disney to China ........

The question is how much money will actully go into builing the park it self.I have heard Al before claim that it will be a cheap park like DCA and WDS.I know that Disney will only be spending around 370 million dollars on it and its other partners will fork out the rest of the dough. But will it have Haunted Mansion,Space Mountain and Pirates.I have heard it will have the Carpet ride and Buzz Lightyear ranger spin and cheap attractions like that.Anyone know any more?

you must be joking.......HK has been a HUGE tourist attraction for decades.....i was there for the first time 35 years ago (when i was in elementary school) and it was already a major tourist attraction then....
maybe HK is interested in continuing its status as a tourist attraction....but it's nothing new....

(and for the record, HK is one of my favorite places in the world....always has been and i can't imagine that will ever change.....we can't wait for the new park to be built.....yet another reason to go there...but certainly not the only one...)
