Just wondering if they check at the DL gates as to how old kids are, and if they have the right tickets??

They questioned my DD when she was a few weeks away from her third birthday. If you have a two year old that looks older, bring a copy of his or her birth certificate. If you are inquiring here because you have an older kid that you want to pass of as a younger kid, well, don't expect to get a lot of help on that here.

They have the right to and if they look older then the ticket you purchase they may say something. This is a question of ethics. Just like your mom said. "It is not right to lie and cheat."

They didn't question my soon-to-be 3 year old when we went last month. I was a bit worried they might, but no one gave her a second glance.

We were treated so rude at Storeyteller's because of this. I will NEVER go back to that resturant because of the wiater. We ordered a childs buffett for my 9 year old. The male waiter (I see that man in my nightmares he made me so mad) looked at me and said "oh right mom, like I was born yesterday" .... "but I guess I'll let it go". I was so angry over this acqusation that while everyone else ate I went back to our room and got his birth certificate and wrestling verification cards that I keep in my wallet. He still us of lying and using someone elses card. Like our last name is not common....give me a break, so I produced my pictured ID and he said "whatever". My son weighs 62 lbs. and the shortest kid in his class, so as you can imagine he doesn't eat a whole whopping amount of food, I think he ate 1 bowl of mac & cheese and some kind of dessert. And of course, the gratuity was added in our bill because we were a large party. I, however, complained to the manager about him and he did take the gratuity off. I was so offended though because I wouldn't try and pass him off as a child unless he really was, but I'm sure they have the right to question it, but this guy wasn't even convinced with a birth certificate, like what 9 year old has a pictured ID.

Seriously, I hope you spoke to a manager. You didn't need to prove any of that to that person but the fact that he did any of it in the first place- and then continued after you produced documents, should have been reported to a manager so that, at the very least, that waiter wouldn't treat others like that in the future. His behavior was inexcusable.

Thank you, and yes, I should make it very clear that the manager was very apologetic (sp) for the waiters rudeness.

That was good that the manager reacted that way. I'm not a big fan of reporting bad CMs, but I think this is one of those where I feel it's warranted. Questioning is one thing - commenting in the fashion that he did was uncalled for, Disney or non-Disney. If you remember the waiter's name and know the day and time you were there, you can use the feedback link on the Disney website to send a comment, if you were interested in doing so.

An interesting note on the converse of this...

My daughter has always been very short for her age (just like me). When I took her to the park around her 4th birthday, one of the CM's at the gate took her ticket and said "You know children under three don't require tickets". I thought it was funny!!!!

Same with my daughter she did not hit 40 Inches until she was 5 1/2 and when I tried to sign her in they would say she does not need to be signed in. I would then tell them her age and sign her in.

Toursbabe I have the opposite problem - I produce AMAZON children while I myself am not tall - Go figure...

Right before my son's 3rd birthday. The cast member at the gate leaned over commented on how cute he was and asked him how old he was - obviously a slow day because they really don't have that much time to talk as you are coming through.... We were a week away from his birthday and I had been practicing with him ... how old are you ...3 (holding up 3 fingers) LOL. Of course that is what he told the cast member :p I explained that he would be 3 next week and that was that. I didn't get any grief or have him question me any further. :)

My very good friends daughter is the same height as my Daughter. My daughter is 91/2 and my friends daughter is 6!!!! She has grown alot the last few years so I think that his daughter is really tall.

I have never had a problem with age. However, my oldest got his AP on his trip after he turned 3, and both my kids are average size.
