Hi Everyone,

We'll be in the parks the weekend of Oct. 8-9 and plan to rent the ECV's early in the morning. I'm not sure I'll have the stamina for all day in the park. I'd like to go back to the hotel for a few hours in the afternoon. Can I put a hold on the ECV's until our late afternoon return or must we just take a chance that they are all not rented out? We will really need them. Is there a large supply of ECV's? I appreciate your help. Thanks

Just take it back to the place you rented it and tell them you will be back in a few hours. They'll put a tag on it and store it for you until you get back. When my mother did this, they messed up and rented out her ECV, but they gave her a new one, no problems.

We rented one from an offsite place on our last trip for this very reason. We were able to bring them right up to the room and could also use them in downtown disney which was really helpful. My in-laws, however, weren't able to get around at all without one so we needed it at all times. It was truly a trip saver.

How much where they from the outside place and do you have a phone number? Did you need to order in advance or what?

I am thinking of coming out to DLR some time in the next couple of months. I was thinking of bringing my own ECV but it is getting old and worn out, and I will have to change planes both ways in Atlanta and did not want to take any chances.

I did some research on locations and the most reasonable one appears to me to be Century Medical Equipment in Anaheim, Fullerton and Seal Beach. I forget the amount quoted (didn't write it down) but their phone number is 562-280-2840.

Since there is no transportation between the Paradise Pier or Disneyland Hotels and either park I fel that trying to walk to the park and the ECV rental area would be painful and it would be well worth it for me to rent from offsite.

Hank919......we rented from "Deckers Surgical". I don't have the phone number but the DL Hotel gave it to me. If you are stayinig onsite they can help arrange it for you. We rented 4 ECV's and they were fully charged when we received them. I think we paid around $35.00 per day (with a refundable deposit). They had them waiting for us at the hotel, and then came and picked them up after we left. We just plugged them in at night and never had any problems with them running out of battery or anything.

whoops.....sorry missed the other part of your question. We did call in advance so that we would have them when we arrived. You probably could call when you arrive but it would take a while to get the, and of course you run the risk of them being sold out.

Thank You Thank You - Called all in the area after talking to GCH about this as well and Deckert Surgical (714-542-5607) is in fact the most resonable and IMO the FRIENDLIEST of them all. Very informative and even told me about rentals in the park as well so as to insure I got just what I wanted. And yes we ordered 2 ECV's

I had to come into this thread to gush about Alan's Wheelchairs (www.alanswheelchairs.com), for anyone who stays 5 days or more. They're incredibly nice, and their rates are cheaper than renting from Disney day after day. I was also happy that the ECV they provided was light and easily navigable through crowds, and not enormous and bulky like a lot of them are.

Have anyone rented from Century Medical?? Were you happy with their service and their product? Thanks so much for your help.

we called all of the different places for manual wheelchairs - this was my experience...

Alan's Wheelchairs (800-693-4344) - nice and knowledgable - but it was more expensive - previously quoted $36 something for 5 days plus $25 delivery fee, when I called to schedule it, the total was $131!!! (remember this is a manual wheelchair). We rented from them last time, and we got a crappy wheelchair that broke, and we had to spend about 3 hours trying to get a new one. They did get it to us, but it was a pain. They also had on their paperwork that the chair was valued at $800!!!

Decker's Surgical (714-542-5607)- very nice and knowledgeable - $60 for a week, with a $50 refundable security deposit, FREE delivery to the DL area. - This is who we'll be going with in December!

Century Medical (562-280-2840)- got someone who didn't know anything. she did take my number and call me back though when she had to go ask someone about something she didn't know. i got a lot of "i think" and "i'm not sure" answers. Their price was about $60 for the time frame as well. FREE delivery as well too the DL area.

Just wanted to let everyone know what the "current" rates for the ECV's are:

**and so you know, they will not price match - I had a great experience w/ Deckert's Surgical in december, but they're much more expensive, told them I would love to do business with them, but they would need to match the price quoted from Century Medical - and they put me on hold, and came back and told me they couldn't do it**

Alan's Wheelchairs (800-693-4344):
$41.42/day
$131.78/week
CC Deposit
*i recall having to pay a delivery fee for a regular wheelchair when we rented from them before*
also, as previously stated, we didn't have a good experience with them in October, so we didn't even bother trying to get a price match - I just don't want to deal with them again.

Decker's Surgical (714-542-5607):
$50 refundable deposit
$40/day rental fee (would have cost $150 for my four day trip)
Free Delivery

Century Medical (562-280-2840):
$105/week (got the weekly rate for my four day trip which saved almost $10/day!!)
$35/day
$50 Credit Card Refundable Deposit
free delivery

I have to share an 'alans medical' story, I rented an EVC from them this past December, it was very 'beat up', there were dents in the frame, the seat was torn and in general the physical shape of the thing was what I'd consider "poor" but then I looked at my contract (they had delivered it to the hotel ahead of time) and it said NEW condition, in addition the brakes were in very poor condition, going into soaring became a hazard in motion! I called them and they refused to replace it unless it actually broke and when I complained that the condition didn't reflect the contract the guy said well we don't send out NEW ones, you people destroy our equipment. Needless to say I won't be using them again, not to mention it was a 25 dollar delivery charge. Oh yeah and when I got there it had a tag with another name on it, I assumed it was from the 'last renter' turns out they delivered 3 different EVC's that day and left the wrong one at MY hotel, the other person at the OTHER hotel, went all weekend long without his because it had MY name on it.

well, definitely sounds like Alan's is a place to avoid -- guess we were lucky ours actually broke (manual wheelchair - the foot rest broke) - but yes, they definitely aren't easy to work with -- I'm really hoping Century Medical is good...

mammasilva, which company do you use? have you tried the other two -- are there any others I don't know about?

The one I used to use and loved actually went out of buisness :( so I tried Alans, won't be a returning customer that's for sure, and actually based on your information I'm going to call Century for my next trip!

Thanks! I think it's important we share this kind of customer service related stuff so that we can either send more buisness to a Good buisness or help another padder avoid a nightmare experience from a bad company!
