View Full Version : Knott's Halloween Haunt
potzbie 09-19-2005, 10:57 AM I asked the KNOTT'S BERRY FARM web site if an Annual Pass will allow admission to HALLOWEEN HAUNT.
I got a reply. Below is the relevant text.
***
"[...] The Annual Pass is not good for free admission to Haunt. However, we do offer a discount ticket of $24 on certain evenings for Pass holders."
***
I am debating whether I can justify an Annual Pass.
Southern California residents get in for a few dollars less than the full general admission.
If I save enough here and there, I might get the $115 ADULT AP.
Darkbeer 09-19-2005, 11:16 AM If you are planning to get an AP for the Haunt discounts, you might be too late, as they are mailed to the AP holders.
The discounts are almost the same price as the Burger King discount, so you can just go pick up a coupon there.
And if you are looking to get a Knott's AP, you can save $10 with a coupon from the following link....
http://www.ralphs.com/ralphsclub/ralphscard_savings_southern.htm
And the best part, you get a Premium AP (free admission to the 3 Soak City Parks also) for $105.
jedimatt 09-19-2005, 12:32 PM I got tired of trying to find the best deals for haunt and such, so i just started getting hired, that way i can go all month long

Maybe the coupon lists 100% of the dates?
• I see OCT 31 MON at $28.
•*I see OCT 30 SUN at $32.
Is it a WED THU FRI SAT SUN kind of schedule?
What's that MONDAY thrown in?
Someone please post the actual range of days (or, the range of dark days, really, since the above we know are active days).
I just typed in the coupon info, and did not re-check the KNOTTS web site.
Darkbeer 09-21-2005, 12:01 PM I had already posted the info here...
http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?t=47440
And Haunt is normally dark on Monday and Tuesday's, but since Halloween (The actual date) is on a Monday, they are offering a extra day to honor the holiday
I posted the schedule here about a month ago...

aktink 09-27-2005, 05:21 PM how do I get the discount coupons if I live in another state, like Alaska?
aktink 09-27-2005, 05:29 PM I also noticed that the web site says not appropriate for children. I know my 17 yo will love it but will it be too much for my 11yo?
The discount coupons are available at our local Burger Kings, they are everywhere.
As far as the 11 yr old, I guess it depends on how well he/she can handle being frightened. Monsters pop out frequently and the costumes are well done, most of the mazes have a gore/blood section to them, and the shows (The Hanging in particular) are geared for late teens/adults (sexual jokes, some blood spatters). If your kid has seen modern horror movies and the American Pie style teen sex comedies, then there is nothing at Haunt more intense than that level.
TowerofTerror 09-27-2005, 06:17 PM he might be able to handle it .Ive seen kid his age there at Halloween Haunt
aktink 09-27-2005, 06:44 PM We are thinking of going on Sunday the 9th. We arrive in CA and will be at Disneyland from the 6th to the 10th. Is there a Burger King close by and will they still have discounted tickets? Do I just show the coupon at the window when I buy my tickets?
Thanks for all the help!! :) :)
aktink 09-27-2005, 06:58 PM Sorry, more questions!!!
Where can we find a list of the rides that are open, mazes and showes? I can't find any info on Knotts web site.
nursemelis374 09-27-2005, 07:14 PM OMG, the Knott's music is awful! Almost as bad as their site!
Try this link:

disneyscott 09-27-2005, 07:38 PM I also noticed that the web site says not appropriate for children. I know my 17 yo will love it but will it be too much for my 11yo?
Ok, now I might get the bad parent award but, I was shock at how well my 5 year old enjoyed haunt. Thats right my 5 year old. Now time for the back story... During October when you go to Six Flags the ticket is for the whole day, not just there haunt. (Knotts is open till 6pm as the normal park with the gore covered up, then they clear the park and reopenn at 7pm for new ticket).
I had Free ticket to Six Flags and went and found out it was there haunt night. We had a good day and when they Started there Haunt the little one loved it. I enjoy Knotts haunt so I gave it a try
You must remember that once you in Knotts Haunt there is no leaving and re entering so I your child is not cool with what is going on and you have to leave.
The talent is very cool to the little one, even with what they say, they get down on a knee and shake there hands and seem to be very cool.
With the ages of yours the should be no problems if they are in to it, my only problem is with the shows, they are very PG13 to R so you might crindge and what they say or talk about.
potzbie 10-21-2005, 02:10 AM I just got home from KNOTTS HALLOWEEN HAUNT (or KNOTTS SCARY FARM, the old marketing name).
Parking was $9.00. Wow. I didn't expect that. That made my heart leap out of my chest! [joke]
I used my BURGER KING coupon and saved money.
At the gate, they scanned me for metal, and they let me keep my 3 inch flashlight.
Dress warmly. I had a hooded zippered fleece sweater. I saw people in light sweaters, but I doubt that they would be comfortable at 9:00 or 10:00 as they might have been at 7:00 or 8:00.
I know my ears and the back of my neck appreciated the hood of my sweater.
Not cold, but cool if you are not walking briskly. Standing in line might be colder than going briskly from maze to maze.
Wear good walking shoes.
(I was wondering -- Can girls walk long distances in flip flops? I could not walk that much if I were to wear my flip flops. Add the cool weather, and I wonder if their feet are prepared for such walking distances.)
Most memorable impression: the size of the crowd.
At eight o'clock, I noticed that I could not move as freely as I did at 6:30 when I first got in.
Yes, the official hour is 7:00, but they let in people earlier, but they do rope off nearly everything until 7:00.
But holy cow. -- The number of people was like Disneyland in summer.
Someone told me that KNOTTS gets something like 15% of its yearly gross from this one-month event.
I believe it.--The crowd was that dense.
And this was a school night and work night (Thursday).
The calendar for KNOTTS web site shows that all the weekend days are sold out.--I believe it.
Tip: Go to the shows. They are good. And they get you off your feet.
(I cannot do that much walking any more at my weight and age.)
No ELVIRA this year.
The actual "mazes" (that is what they call each haunted house segment) are good. Because of the sheer number of them, KNOTTS ought to satisfy the need for fear.
You know what to expect.--Young people (obviously) masked, dressed up/down per the theme, jumping out at you from dark corners.
Some fog.
Some strobe lights.
Some black lights.
Mazes are dark, too. If your night vision is poor, you will miss a lot of the design.
Add the ad hoc roaming monsters, who add ambience.
I was jumping like a frog for the first three mazes.
I got used to it, and was un-jump-able by my fourth or fifth maze.
The "log ride" had its scenery on the ride itself themed. That is, there was nothing themed in its queue, but there were scary wolves and masked people jumping at you as you drifted in your log.
Not recommended for children.
If I jumped like a frog for my first few mazes, then I think a 8 year old or 10 year old will have nightmares and not want to do more than one maze.
But if you coach or de-brief your youngster, it is possible that he/she will get the behind-the-magic idea that the mazes all follow the same format, and instead of fearing the corners, or jumping when someone/something reaches for him/her, then it is possible that a child might enjoy that kind of simulated danger/risk/adventure.
Beware. Know your limitations and the the limitations of the little ones.
The stage shows (in Calico Square and in the Charles M. Shultz theater) used risque humor often, with innuendo of a sexual nature.
I would hesitate and think twice to bring under-puberty children to such shows.
(Does the phrase "bathroom humor" ring a bell?)
The average age of the attendee surely is close to 18.
High schoolers. College age. Young adults.
I saw no old fogies or fuddy-duddies (like me!).
Nary a gray head in any queue, as far as I could see.
Food?
I had a hot dog-fries-drink combo at 6:30, awaiting the rope to drop.
I added a Gatorade later, just to play it safe. (Exertion; dehydration.)
I saw turkey legs at $5 a pop. Wow.
Most of their eateries appeared to be open and fully functioning.
Not all rides were open.
But the majority of them were.
Some non-rides (Mystery Lodge) were not running, pre-empted by mazes.
I did not see 100% of the mazes and shows. My feet and energy gave out.
I left at 11:15 p.m. -- I got my money's worth.
Easy drive on the 91 westbound, to 605 northbound.
Home again, home again, jiggity-jig.
:)
