View Full Version : what exactly is "child switch?" (DLR) babytmakes5 08-24-2005, 08:54 PM with three little ones, it sounds like something i might be able to use--what is it, what rides is it offered, and how do i use it? thanks! trina :) RStar 08-24-2005, 09:13 PM What exactly is a child switch? Well, you bring your child in to the location, and for a nomanal fee, you can switch it for one that has been well trained and should be better behaved. One good use of this program is to buy up- trade in that one year old for a five. Skip the "terrible twos" and go right to kindergarden! RStar 08-24-2005, 09:16 PM Just kidding!!! Ok, your group stands in line for a ride. You get up front and on person stays behind with the kid(s) and gets a pass. When the rest of your group gets off the ride you hand them the kid(s) and take your pass to the front of the line and get on (no waiting in line again). The only drawback, IMHO, is that you ride alone. I'm not sure if they will give you two passes if two people stay behind so they can ride together... truesally 08-24-2005, 09:17 PM It's for when you have a child/children too small to ride any given attraction - your family gets in line, one parent & any tall-enough kids get on the ride while the other parent waits at the loading area (with any too-little or too-frightened kids) until the first parent disembarks, then the waiting parent rides. It's really more of a "parent switch" :) Quite nice, and I believe it's available for any of the rides in both parks. truesally 08-24-2005, 09:23 PM Well, you bring your child in to the location, and for a nomanal fee, you can switch it for one that has been well trained and should be better behaved. Well done... :D When the rest of your group gets off the ride you hand them the kid(s) and take your pass to the front of the line and get on (no waiting in line again). The only drawback, IMHO, is that you ride alone. I'm not sure if they will give you two passes if two people stay behind so they can ride together We didn't get passes when we used this option last year - but we only switched at a couple of rides. We just stood at the loading/unloading area. And the kids who were riding with the first adult got to ride again with the second (we had occasions when our daughter was too short to ride, and others when our son, the bigger/older one, was too scared). So there was always a kid for the adult to ride with. adriennek 08-24-2005, 09:30 PM On rides with restrictions (Autopia, the roller coasters, Indiana Jones, etc.) there will be a Cast Member at the Queue entrance (At the Matterhorn, this person is just right in front of the Matterhorn building, not at the end of the ride.) The person with the too young to ride children ask that cast member for a "rider switch/child swap pass". That CM will give that person a piece of paper that is color coded. That is the pass. The young child and adult then can go ride another ride, get a drink, go potty, whatever, while the rest of the family stands in line and rides. Once the rest of the family gets off the ride, two people can return to ride using the child swap pass. How to use the pass differs from ride to ride. Either you will enter the exit, an HCA gate, or the Fast Pass line. Those two people surrender the pass and ride the ride. The too young to ride children DO NOT stand in the line. Once they pass the measuring stick, they're not allowed in the line. Adrienne disneyjunkie 08-24-2005, 10:16 PM The baby is in a stroller still and they gave us the paper at the beginning of the queue My daughter and hubby rode I waited with the baby, then my daughter and I entered the fast pass line while hubby waited with the baby. It was great we used on TOT and screamin , pre break down. tinksmommy 08-24-2005, 11:38 PM I was actually able to do a funny sort of switch once on Autopia. DH rode with our daughter and I rode in another car taking pictures of them. We got off the ride and I asked the CM if we could do a switch and they said "sure" and my daughter and I got in a car and then my hubby went for a car and they weren't going to let him on and he said "I have to take the pictures" in a sweetly pathetic voice -- and they let him on. So it was a true "child swap"!! babytmakes5 08-25-2005, 05:06 AM What exactly is a child switch?
