Hi

I wanted to add about the car seat bags..After trying to lug a car seat around in a carry bag, I did some checking and I found a car seat bag with wheels on the bottom of it. It was a lifesaver on our last trip. We were able to pull the bag with the car seat behind us with one hand and not have to carry that big heavy bag over our shoulders.

Unfortunately, most airlines have gone to the "everyone boards at the same time" policy and don't seem to allow those with small children to board first anymore.

Actually, they've stopped ANNOUNCING those with small children first. IF you need extra time to get the car seat situated, talk to the gate agent, and they'll probably be able to help you. I haven't been paying much attention to families with small children when I've flown lately (I fly on the 'business oriented' times, not the 'vacation oriented' times - LOTS fewer kids around) - but I have noticed that they will DISCRETELY talk to someone who needs extra time to get down the jet way and allow them to board first.

Oh, I am *so* glad to read that someone is using the carseat bag to take their seat *on* the plane for their child to sit in!

It drives me crazy that people check their kids' carseats as baggage; they wouldn't put it in the back of a car when they're driving....

I remember the joy of hauling three carseats onto a plane for a trip. Along with the diaper bag, toys, snacks, camera equipment, etc. We'd gate check the strollers... One of those carseat bags with wheels would have helped!

It's funny, though; we wouldn't board early, even though they allowed it then. We let other people get settled in their seats before we tried to get our entire entourage through the aisles and into their seats. We felt that the less time on the plane, the better. :D

I have to check my kids' car seats. They are both in boosters and those cannot be used on planes, they can only be used with shoulder belts.

We found that out the hard way and thinking back, we should've known better. Our son has a booster where the back comes off and as opposed to lugging the whole seat, we simply seperated the the back from the base and thought that would suffice. Nope! It was perfectly fine for our rental car but a no go for the plane.

VickiC, how's your daughter's summer been? Hopefully she's healed nicely? Oh yeah, very cool, colorful cast! (if ever there was a cool cast of course)

Take care and sorry to go off topic.

I need to update my avatar! She's doing ok. She's in physical therapy and is still limping badly after 3 weeks of the cast being off. It's been a little disappointing for her that she's still got to go slow... she wasn't expecting that even though we warned her.
