I've noticed in the last month or so a few very old threads were replied to and then followed by a Mod's stern request, "Please don't resurrect old threads."

Wouldn't it make sense just to lock all the "old" threads to prevent this from occurring? Have you set a policy? Written a script? How long must a thread remain dormant before it becomes undesirable to awaken it?

That's a very good suggestion and question. Currently we don't lock old threads or set an "expiration date." But that option is being tossed around right now. For now we just have to rely on the rules of netiquette. Unfortunately, many people new to message boards don't always know those rules.
