I'm wondering about the merchandise sold in the DCL gift shops on board. Do they sell postcards? If so, where would I mail one from? How do you figure postage, from your port-of-call? Has anyone done this? We want to send postcards to folks back home but don't know how/where to send them from.

Someone with a better memory than I can probably tell you how this works, but I remember that each day we were in port we could take postcards somewhere on the ship, purchase the appropriate local postage, and mail the cards from the ship.

If you are taking a cruise from Florida, you can mail postcards from Castaway Cay. The post office on the island sells stamps, and you mail the cards right there. You WILL need to bring cash, since the CC post office does not take credit cards or shipboard credit.

You will also beat your postcard home by 2-3 weeks. :)

Hahaha...this is SO true!! :D

*I did use the mailbox from Castaway Cay. But, I have to say, it's not just that particular place. I notice that my postcards are always the slowest mail to move...no matter where I go. :(
