Is Perilous Plunge open or closed right now?

View Full Version : Knott's Perilous Plunge - Open? justagrrl 02-16-2002, 09:48 AM Is Perilous Plunge open or closed right now? MouseWife 02-26-2002, 10:09 PM If anyone knows this, I would be interested in knowing as well. I would also like to know the future of Perilous Plunge. When we went in December, I thought it was drained. I could be wrong. Or, what about that slingshot type ride, that took the place of the Haunted Shack? Let's have a moment of silence in memory of the Haunted Shack please. Okay, is that ride closed as well? HTHBellcaptain 02-28-2002, 12:05 AM I liked the Haunted Shack. But then again, I'm a roadside America kind of a guy. MouseWife 02-28-2002, 06:53 AM Originally posted by HTHBellcaptain I liked the Haunted Shack. But then again, I'm a roadside America kind of a guy. Oh, me too. Hubby isn't, though. Point A to point B. He just flies by all of the roadside things I point out. He won't go off the path for things like Ghost Towns {Bodie} or stuff like that. The only reason I didn't want to go to Bodie {meaning I didn't insist} is that I was worried my daughter would pick something up and we would be cursed. She would do that just to see what would happen, ya know. HBDisneyPrincess 03-27-2002, 08:03 PM I went to Knotts Wednesday two weeks ago on a field trip with my third graders (to the Indian Trails part....) I didn't get to ride any rides, but Perilous Plunge was listed as closed. This was the 13th, I think. I am going this Saturday (I have a free ticket that expires on Sunday...ug, I don't even want to thinkabout the crowds....) I'll letcha know if its opened then... Darkbeer 03-27-2002, 08:47 PM Perilous Plunge won't be opening anytime soon, Cal-OSHA cited tehm on the death, they have to redo the restraint system, and get it OK'ed by Cal-OSHA before it reopens. Marko50 03-29-2002, 11:39 AM And the thing that replaced the Haunted Shack is also going to be replaced - or at least, it's going. See what happens when you build on "Haunted" ground? Course, you could almost say that about the whole park after how many years of "Scary Farm". HBDisneyPrincess 03-31-2002, 08:31 PM Yup, as mentioned, the plunge is still closed. It's compleatly drained. You're more likely to pick up an allergy attack, or a case of fear-of-falling-off-the-side-of-the-mountain-in-your-car (I'm guessing the road you have to take to get up there is still narrow, unpaved, and on the side of a mountain). Or maybe that was just my family's experience. I wouldn't really call Bodie "roadside America," seeing as it's not really on the side of any road you'd be on for any reason other than going to see Bodie. Now, if some "roadside America" scholar can explain that tree sculpture that's in the middle of the Salt Flats in Utah . . . MouseWife 03-31-2002, 09:31 PM Thanks for the warning, Matterhorn Fan! From my seat I really feel as if I am going to fall off the side of the mountain as we drive. Compound that with a driver who would have to be cahooled into taking us and forget it!! White knuckle all the way!! And I've never been to Salt Flats, Utah. Matterhorn Fan 03-31-2002, 09:35 PM Originally posted by MouseWife And I've never been to Salt Flats, Utah. I can safely say that you're not missing anything. They're big, white, flat, and really quite boring. Unfortunately they're between stuff and other stuff, and occasionally people have to drive through that area. |
