I just went wireless - hooked up the router, installed the card, etc. It works beautifully with a little help from Linksys customer service.
But, when I unplug the power cord from the wall to the back of my lap top, the computer turns off. To be more specific, there is a cord that plugs into the wall, into a rectangular Dell box with a green light, and from that a skinny cord that plugs into the back of the lap top.
The icon near the clock at the bottom says 0% remaining (charging). I assume this means I'm all charged up.
Do I need to switch my computer to a different setting prior to unplugging? I was all excited about going wireless, but now I have to plug my lap top in and re-boot when I go from room to room. Not quite wireless.
Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!:)

Actually, it sounds like the battery is completely discharged and might not even be taking a charge. Either there's no battery or it's dead. You might want to take the battery in to a repair shop and see if they can test it for you.

It'll be something on the bottom of your laptop, likely attached by means of a lever or catch. You didn't say what model Dell you have; you can get the specs and care instructions for every model on www.dell.com.

Another possibility: Open Control Panel, Power Options, Alarm tab. Check the "Critical Battery Alarm" % setting. If it's too high, the laptop may shut itself down with plenty of battery charge left.

For future reference, when your battery is all charged up it will say 100% remaining. Then the percentages will start to go down as you use up your battery power.
