I was looking into the Epson PictureMate Deluxe Viewer photo printer. I have a Sony digital camera and an ibook.

Anyone used this particular photo printer with a Mac? (It is compatible~I just wanted some first-hand feedback on it if possible.)

Thanks!

No personal experience, but you might check out Consumer Reports or CNet for reviews.

If you want your photos to last a long time you will want to check wilhelm Research (http://wilhelmresearch.com) Henry Wilhelm is considered an expert on archival storage and longevity issues in printing.

I'm not familiar with all the Epson model #'s but Epson has the best rated longevity. According to Wilhelm an Epson printer with the Epson ink and Epson paper will produce prints that last over 100 years (and outlast what you get at a traditional photo processing place!!) What you want to find is the Epson models that use the ink that has the best longevity. Then make sure it works with your MAC. I'm currently a PC gal but my parents and siblings use MACs so I know that sometimes it can be tricky to get a printer (or software) for your MAC. That's my best advice.

For inexpensive pritning but horrible longevity by parents have a Canon printer that they really like (and it works with their MAC.) I have a Canon as well different model but similar to my parents printer. The pics LOOK good when I print them but Canon inks are rated to last less than 20 years so I only print out pics for fun (like a birthday card or thank you note) not for long term storage. The Canon is the best printer I have ever owned (including Epson and HPs) for low cost of ink refills. It is my workhorse for bills, research, letter writing, etc.

I hope that helps!
