I am planning a trip to USH, and was wondering if the Front of the Line, is worth the cost. I can get it at $10 off the booth price, because of AAA. I have heard that you can use it as many times as you want, during the day. So, it may be worth it.

It really depends on the day, if it is PACKED, I would say it is worth the extra $37 (discounted), or $47 at full price.

But if the park is slow or average, I really don't think it is worth the extra money.

If you are willing to pay for the Front of the Line pass, you might want to look at the VIP tour instead, you get everything the FOTL pass offers, and a LOT more.

Yes, but do you get to go on the rides as many times as you want, with the VIP. I really want to make the most of the day, by going on all the rides, as many times as possible.

The VIP Badge works just likes the FOTL pass, but you do get a private Tram Tour (about 15 people max), much longer than the regular tour, and you get to get off the tram and check out some areas of the backlot. Then your tour guide takes you thru the park and many of the attractions, and then after it is over, you can go back to anything you want until the park closes, with your VIP badge working just like the Front of the Line Pass.

I guess it really depends on how much you want to wait in line. There is really only 3 rides at USH, the rest are all shows which have a big audience capacity (Shreck and T2). My work badge (I work on the lot) is a front of the line badge but for the most part the wait times for the rides are just not there. However it is summer and I have gone in the park itself in a couple weeks so it might be more corwded now. I was just getting burned out riding the Mummy, we would go in grab some Panda, ride the Mummy and go back to work hehe.

Front of the LIne pass gives you access to not wait in line for each ride 2x only. it is not unlimited! They are "supposed" to be marked off each time you go, although sloppy ride operators and overpacked areas often lead to that not happening.

BUT FYI

I would NOT suggest the VIP tour unless you feel like getting stuck walking around with a tour guide in a group and having to stay on a schedule.

The way the Front of the Line Pass works is you are allowed two visits to each attraction with the pass. Now, do all employees enforce this rule? Surely no. But that is the description of the pass as far as Universal is concerned. Usually, employees dont want to put up with the hassle of an irate guest over such an inconsiderate issue, which is why they just let you on numerous times. Now, if you have a Front of the Line Pass and you just keep going over and over and over many times in a row, and the staff begins to reckognize this, that is when a manager may come out to enforce the rule. Like I said, we are very leanient on this sort of thing.

If that is the policy, you may want to let Universal Studios know that...

We do know that. Just like Disneylands "official" policy for fastpasses is you are supposed to come back withing the time window on your pass. But it will be honored after the window as well. (By most of the cast members at least)

Just to clarify, lest anyone get the wrong idea:

The Front of the Line Pass does NOT have a limitation (i.e. maximum two uses per attraction) at Universal Studios. This was confirmed with management of ticket sellers at Universal Studios Hollywood. If you purchase a Front of the Line pass, then you are able to use it as often as you want at any of the attractions inside USH.

Are we both talking with the same management?

Something tells me no...but in essence I was talking with the managers of the ticket sellers at Uni.

Well I guess it doesn't really matter anyways. It's not like it's a huge deal. 99.9% of the guests who purchase the FOL's use them all day anyway. 99.9% of the employees do not enforce the rule. The bottom line is you are there to enjoy the park! :D

True that the bottom line is that people are there to enjoy the park, but from all appearances, it looks like .1% of the employees are enforcing a rule that does not exist. And on a weekend where there may be over 20,000 guests, you're still dealing with the percentage of guests that deal with that .1%...and so on and so on.

it most certainly depends on who you talk to. Manger of Ticket Sellers????LMAO.. anyway. If you ask Guest Relations you get an entirely different answer

Actually...I did ask them, and I didn't get a different answer. The FOL pass USED to be that way, but the restriction didn't last very long.

The OLD Front of the Line Passes used to have a place to mark off how many times you rode an attraction (a four page card). They eliminated that, and now it is just a single front and back, and no place to mark off how many times you use it...

So it is as many times as you want to in a day......

I think the front priority passes are great at USH and I highly recommend it during the busy season. Well worth the money. I have not once seen a cast member enforce the 2 rides per attraction a day and I go to USHA about every other month so I don't think you would have a problem with this at all. I have a question for someone that works there. What is the difference between the yellow pass and the red one? I know a few people that work in the studios and they always give me the red one. Is there any benefit having the red pass or yellow pass or is it the same thing?
I also wanted to let you know that although there are not many attractions in the park there is reserved seating at all shows for those with the priority pass, It is great because you can show up 10 minutes before the show starts and get great seats!!!!
I hope you enjoy your trip at Universal Studios Hollywood!

i went on wednesday, and took the VIP Tour, it was great. we got to see the foley soundstage, some Pirates 2/3 sets and props, the dupping room, where they were working on the 40-year old virgin. we also saw them shooting Desperate Housewives.

what was great was the front of the line access. we also got the 2005 free pass. so, it worked out well. i only have one question, do they ever change the VIP pass designs, if so, there might be a certain advantage to that. (front of line, etc.)

but, the tour was great. i wan't so impressed with Jurassic, half the show effects didn't even work. if Disney did it, it would have been 15x greater
