The Firefox (http://www.getfirefox.com/) and Opera (http://www.opera.com/) Web browsers include pop-up blocking. Internet Explorer does as well, as long as you are using Windows XP Service Pack 2. I use Opera and supplement it with Ad Muncher (http://www.admuncher.com/) for pop-up and banner ad blocking.

Firefox is free. Opera is free if you don't mind a Google AdSense banner ad in the browser UI, or you can buy a permanent license for an ad-free version for $39. Ad Muncher has a 30-day trial period and costs $24.95 thereafter.

Firefox with the AdBlock extension (http://adblock.mozdev.org/) and the Pierceive blocker list (http://www.pierceive.com/) (updated every week or so) is tough to beat. Will block pop ups and known banner ads.

On the Mac, though, Pithhelmet (http://culater.net/software.php/PithHelmet/PithHelmet.php) is great with Safari.

For Internet Explorer, I really like the free Google Toolbar, that includes an effective pop-up blocker:

Thanks you guys. I will look into these when I get home tonight. I don't know what happened, but I am being inundated with pop-ups at home.

Not the question you asked, but...

If you go to the same sites at home but get a lot more pop-ups, or you get pop ups without doing any navigating in the browser, your machine may be infected with adware.

So if adding the google toolbar doesn't help, you should suspect a different/bigger problem.

I downloaded the firefox thing. Does this mean I now need to use this to go online as opposed to MSN explorer? That is what I assumed.
