I'm seriously considering proposing to my girlfriend this August while we are at WDW. Whew, it's weird seeing that in writing! :)

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions on good places to pop the question. I have a few ideas, but would love to hear yours! We'll be there from August 26 thru September 5, and will be staying at the Pop Century, if that makes any difference. I'm a frequent visitor (6 times in the past 8 years) and she was there with me last year, so we're both fairly familiar with the parks and are big believers in the "magic" of Disney.

I look forward to your ideas!

Wow, I can think of alot of places-during a romantic dinner atop the California Grill while watching the fireworks. Or go down to watch the fireworks on the beach of the poly. and ask her there. Or for a lot of fun, go to the Hoop de doo and call and set it up ahead of time so you can ask her during the show in front of everyone. The possibilities are endless.

How fantastic & romantic!!! :) My favorite spot in MK is by Cinderella's wishing well, to the right of the castle. It's so beautiful and everytime I've been there it seems like everyone just walks right past it. I'm sure what ever you decide will be magical and something you'll never forget :)

The wishing well is actually on top of my list right now. I've considered the Hoop Dee Doo thing, but I think I may want to go the more private route. I'd love to incorporate the characters somehow, without turning it into a sideshow, if that makes any sense at all.

Makes a LOT of sense :) I'd call WDW and see what magical ideas (and prices ;) ) they have for making your proposal extra magical.... I agree though, the more private route would be better

Try a romantic restraunt, or maybe a favorite attraction of hers. Nothing like making an already special attraction even more special with happy memories! Congratulations!

You could also contact Presentations: Gift of a Lifetime (http://www.giftsofalifetime.com) and perhaps utilize their help. Under the "Pixie Dust" section they have the following:

"Clues are hidden around the theme park or parks of your choice with each one leading to another and finally capping off with the present or occasion you wish to celebrate. Clues are provided and secreted. This event is an excellent choice for guests who are Disney enthusiasts looking for something to make this trip unique. Perfect for birthday events, and also for reception guests in town for a wedding, business groups, conventions and family reunions. This event is also for gentlemen who want a unique and memorable way to plan an engagement. Presentations guarantees that your event will be unique to you. With all of the varied facilities across Central Florida, there are no limitations as to what we can offer to each client. Pixie Dust Occasions have included family reunions, engagements, wedding showers, birthday functions, and dream vacation scavenger hunts."

I think I've read a trip report here on Mouseplanet that utilized this service. I'll see if I can dig it up.

For around $30, you can take an evening, 1/2-hour horse and carriage ride that goes around the very-beautiful grounds of Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter.

If you want it to be a personal moment without a lot of people around, why not have dinner at any of the restaurants at the GF or Poly and then take a walk on the beach to watch the Electric Water Pageant. There are swings right on the shore where you can sit and take your special moment. Then take the monorail back to MK to celebrate the inevitable "YES!"

The beuaty of proposing at a Disney place is that there is built in magic. I agree about the wishing well or if you have enough money doing the Gifts of a Lifetime thing. She is a lucky girl!

I agree with dinner at Poly or GF and then watching the fireworks from the beach and proposing at that time. That way it can be something you repeat each time you go and if you have kids you can bring them to that same location and tell them the story.

I am hoping you are relatively sure she will say yes..lol. I would recommend talking to someone at the Beauty and the Beast show at MGM. They occasionally allow people to propose before the show with a microphone on stage. There is always a musical group there doing the pre show entertainment, and they will call her up with you and sing to you both. It would be very memorable and romantic.
For private proposals, I must stress the romantic atmosphere of a window seat at Cinderella's Royal Table- what girl would not love to have the most important moment of her life to take place in Cinderella's Castle itself?? The wait staff could even get into the act. Communicate and call ahead. Best wishes!! :)

I'm all about doing it out in the open, but in a romantic way. If you wanna make it even more fantastic is invite her parents and your parents and have them hidden somewhere video taping. It just depends how close you guys are with family. Or have a CM hiding somewhere video taping it. If I don't get proposed to in WDW I am saying no! (just kidding!) Because I can't get married in WDW I need the next best thing which is the proposal and it has to be perfect!

Good luck SpamPutney! I can't wait until you get back!!

Thank you, everyone, for some really great ideas. I've got a lot of planning to do. And yes, CinderellaCM, I'm certain she will say yes! :) I will be sure to update this thread with my plans and the happy conclusion.

Thanks again, everybody!

I would pick somewhere in Epcot. World Showcase just seems very romantic to me.

It depends on how much you want to put into it, but if you have the means... do it at Cinderella's Royal Table. My roommate works there and I've seen some of the engagements they prepare. They set up a special desert after your meal in which they present the ring. They put the ring in a glass slipper, etched with your names and the date, and all of it is arranged on a silver platter with fresh cut roses from the Castle Rose garden. They also seat you in a great window seat in the middle of the restaurant. It's a beautiful setup.

Of course, there is also anytime during Wishes or Illuminations. At the wishing well, or rose garden, or any special place you and your girlfriend have in the parks. You could wait until later in the trip and see if your girlfriend latches onto any particular attraction or show. If she really loves Snow Whites Adventures and wants to ride it each time you visit MK, then propose on the ride.

If you want a little assistance, give Disney Guest Services a call, they can plan almost anything. Good Luck, and let us know what happens!!!!

lots of great ideas here.

here's one, rent the breathless for an illuminations boat tour. then with just you and your future bride and the driver you can propose just as the show begins.

You could always have dinner at Victoria & Albert's then go for a stroll down to the wedding pavilion and propose there. I think the setting there is beautiful, but then again I may be just a tad biased!;)

Congratulations!!! We'll all be anxious to hear the final result!

If you're doing it in a public place, hand your camera to a Cast Member (who is hopefully in on this in advance) to "take a picture of the two of you." As he's getting ready to shoot, drop to one knee and pop the question as the CM fires away. Voila! Action photos of the proposal (and acceptance)! ;)

ooh, oooh! I like the combination of efoxx's and Mark's ideas -- a romantic cruise, with the Captain taking your picture. The only downside would be the possibility of rain cancelling the cruise (and it's pricey and hard to get reservations).

:) Congratulations in advance!

I like that idea alot. I'm definitely considering the Wishing Well/CM photograph idea. I'm also intrigued by the CRT idea.

Hmmmm. So many good places, but only one proposal. What to do, what to do? :D

Do it at the wishing well then have dinner at CRT with prior notice to them of what you have just done. :-)

You should also take into account what kind of a person your girlfriend is. Is she a private person? If so she might enjoy a quiet proposal more than out in public (e.g. not in the middle of the MK). If she's a larger than life kind of person who likes to be the center of attention, then a more public and open proposal would be better.

I would suggestion in front of the Ms. C's Castle, on the draw bridge, either first thing in the morning or just as evening is falling around it.

A little preparation can go along way. A comrade to be standing near by with the camera. If you have the actor in you, remember to speak with a voice that will stop those around you and allow them to experience the joy of the moment too. Believe me, a complete stranger will take a dozen or two pictures of the moment, in case you can't get someone else to do it.

go to the coral reef restaurant at epcot and have one of the divers hold up a "will you marry me" sign!
