Southern California - To help combat the severe blood shortage in Southern California both Chili's restaurants and Knott's Soak City water parks are stepping up to the plate to get Southern Californians to donate. Every participant at every blood drive in Southern California in the Month of July will receive a voucher for a free appetizer good at any Chili's restaurant in the Southern California market. In addition, anyone who participates July 1 through July 10th will also get a voucher for a free admission to one of the three Knott's Soak City waterparks here in the region*.
To make your lifesaving appointment please go to www.givelife.org or call 800.Give.Life today. If you are ineligible due to a recent donation or other reason please take the time to forward this to your friends, family and co-workers so that we can insure a stable blood supply for Southern California.
Typically, blood donations decrease significantly during the summer months. High schools and universities, which hold blood drives at other times of the year, are often out of session during the summer. Also, summer vacations and other plans cause many people to get out of the habit of giving blood.
*Knott's voucher note - Please redeem voucher at the water park. ID will be required for redemption. Voucher may only be used by the person participating in the blood drive. Knott's vouchers are nontransferable, not redeemable for cash and can be used through July 15, 2005.
If you have been told previously by the American Red Cross or another blood center that you should never donate blood, please disregard this message. If you recently made a blood donation, or if you have already scheduled an appointment to donate blood, please accept our thanks on behalf of the patients whose lives you may have touched.
To donate blood you must be at least 17 years old, weigh 110 lbs. and be in good health.
