Apple has released a podcast capable version of iTunes 4.9 (http://www.apple.com/itunes). In the iTunes Music Store in the Podcast Directory I found a subscription to the Disney Insider podcast produced by Disney. Their first podcast is a short five minute piece on Club 33, including how to become a member. Most of us here know the answer to that question :)
The URL for the Podcast for other podcatching software (like iPodder, iPodderX and Doppler) is http://disney.go.com/music/podcasts/disney_insider.xml. I won't have a chance to try it out on any other podcatching software until this afternoon. If anyone else want's to verify that this link works, please post a reply.
Disney has a podcast page (http://disney.go.com/music/podcasts/) on their own website which lists other shows for streaming or direct download of individual shows. I don't see any subscription links on their site. Right now, I'm in the land of slow modems. Unless someone else wants to investigate this further, I look into this when I return to the land of high-speed internet later today.
The other show, which should be of particular interest to MousePlanet readers is " The Gears Behind the Ears:
Of Mice...and a Mouse - Disney Archivist Dave Smith introduces the Disney mice." It's direct URL for other podcatching software is http://disney.go.com/music/podcasts/gears_behind_the_ears.xml
iTunes 4.9 is a nice podcatcher, but really needs more work. I'm still evaluating it but have found several problems that make it less desirable than others such as Doppler, iPodder and iPodderX. In particular, though you can manage podcasts sent to a standard iPod, it's difficult to manage podcasts sent to an iPod Shuffle. But that's for another post.
