View Full Version : Six Flags Marine World - Vallejo
Wendi 06-26-2005, 01:33 PM I'm debating getting season passes this year. I haven't had one in a couple of years... last time I had one, Max was a year old and I think I went twice... not worth it. I'm just wondering if there is enough there to keep him interested in going several times... he's 3-1/2 now. I know he'll enjoy the shows, and I've heard that there is a kiddie section now, I just don't know if I should wait another year or go for it this year.
I am considering just getting a pass for myself and my nieces/nephew (they love to go and love the thrill rides) and then just take Max on days that we have free promo passes - does anyone out there have a season pass and can you tell me how many free friends passes you have and what the dates are? I wish I could see all the coupons online... that would make the decision easier!!! ;)
MammaSilva 06-26-2005, 01:54 PM Hi Wendi
Well you've missed being able to use the first of the bring someone free coupons, they were only good for Sundays in June. There are two more, one for the end of summer and one for Sundays in September after labor day. I don't have my coupon book in front of me or I'd give you specific dates. As for enough to entertain your 3 1/2 year old. Marine World had Looney Tunes Seaport that is totally designed for little ones. There are at least 10 rides in there plus a 'fun factory' and a water attraction where they play in the water ...not a ride, in addition to that area they have put in a new and very cool interactive area where you can see dolphins and rays upclose and even pet them if you're lucky...it's allowed, the creatures just don't always cooperate. There is a new penquin enclosure and I have to say I could watch them for hours, they are such little 'hams' they actually POSE for cameras! That is in additon to the walrus exhibit, the shark experience which might be a little 'scary' for a 3 1/2 year old since you go into a dark entry to go on the moving walkway thru the tunnel where the sharks and other sea critters swim over you. They have a wonderful Dolphin harbor show, a fun elephant program and other shows thru the day. There are a few other rides outside of the kiddie area that are smaller kid friendly, a 'around the world' hot air balloon ferris wheel, wave jumper (think dumbo with orcas instead of elephants) and a train that goes from the shark experience area up to the upper animal area of the park where the "land animals" ...tigers, lions and other cats are.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask...
Wendi 06-26-2005, 02:01 PM Thanks muy mucho, MammaSilva! I wouldn't be able to go on Sundays anyway... I work weekends and we'll be visiting during the weekdays for most of our excursions... so I guess I'll get him his own pass if I decide to get them. I know he would be able to keep himself entertained in the water play area, good to know! Maybe we'll go for it... hey, maybe we can meet up sometime too!
MammaSilva 06-26-2005, 02:11 PM glad I could help. Price wise the passes really are one of the better deals around our area up here. parking is still $10.00 a visit and the season parking pass is $40.00 but if you take your parking receipt from the first time with you to the gate they will take that $ off the total so you don't pay more than 40.00.
Karen256 06-26-2005, 04:59 PM We decided to get season passes for the most part because it was only slightly more expensive than a one day pass. But we haven't been back since (got the passes in April).
Our 3 1/2 year old enjoyed the kids area. If you like shows, there a couple of good ones. We'll probably be going back soon. The main deterrent for us would be crowds on the weekends, but it sounds like you'd be going on the less crowded weekdays. Overall, considering the low price, I'd say it's worth it.
The passes also get you into the two waterparks in Sacramento and Concord. I don't think the parking pass works for the Waterworld, at least in Sac. We haven't been to the water park, but from the website it does like they have a decent kids area.
The employee at the ticket window actually tried to talk us out of buying a pass for our son, she said something like "as long as he's in a stroller he probably wouldn't need it." We told her we'd rather be honest and to just sell us the pass.
MammaSilva 06-26-2005, 05:16 PM The parking pass only works at Marine World, but the season admission pass is valid at ALL Six Flags Parks in addition to Water World in Sac and Concord(but not all of the water parks...don't ask me I can't figure that one out either)...including Magic Mountain so if you've got a trip down south planned and wanted to stop in....personally when we go the kids are always like umm NO we don't want to stop and 'lose' any time we want to go to Disneyland and then on the way home we're just ready to be home so we've never stopped.
GeminiAngel 07-08-2005, 06:09 AM We wanted to go there this summer but I wasn't sure of what airport/hotels are the closest to the park. We would not be renting a car.
So we are going to San Diego in August. Staying at The Dana, so we can walk to the beach and seaworld.
MammaSilva 07-08-2005, 06:31 AM Marine World without a car would be a big pain. You would have to fly into SFO or Oakland and use ground transportation to the ferry then from the ferry, the local bus system to get to the park...I wouldnt' recommend it to anyone even if they had free passes IN to the park!

Just got my AP for marine world last week, deciding after two years w/o one! it seems that they have brought the place back from fallin' apart to nice paited & clean etc. enjoyed it thouroughly no crowds etc. weekdays are the best time to go! Oh yeah! Parking is fre mon.-fri. B-4 10am, also two time sensitive/dated free friend passes still available to use...Aug 23,- sept. 3, & sundays in the fall sept.11-oct2. marine world coupons also have at least 10 1/2 price coupons/ half price-get a friend in & or friend entrance for fifteen to twenty dollars etc. also buy one get one free into S.F. Magic mountain(I think there are two of those & also half price & friend in fre passes for waterworld concord & Sac. one bad thing about it is they charge 10 dollars for parking, and there is always a huge line for tram of which i usually only see one running which takes even longer than walkin' so I always park absolutely fre at city park baseball field straight down street in other direction of marine world &M.W. parkin' no signs posted that say not to and have been doing this for years. I have never been bothered-ticketed-or towed away! I LOVE IT!!! and it is just as far as walkin' back to 10 dollar parkin' at M.W. I hope you find this info helpful!!! :) leotatoombs
