Google earth needs some clear pictures like that of WDW. The only clear park was the Magic Kingdom but that link you posted has great pictures. And thanks for posting that picture of the monorail.

So they removed a whole building from the hotel?
Either way, it felt like it was more useful then having to walk across the parking lot, or however it worked...
Now if Im at the DH I would rather just walk the rest of the way through Downtown disney.

Well, it was a far less interesting walk previously. Before DD, you had to walk across a public street (West Street, which is now Disneyland Drive) and through the Disneyland parking lot to get to the entrance gate. Now you walk through a dedicated pedestrian area lined with shops, that feels like a section of the park all by itself. Psychologically, it feels closer. But it isn't.

Correct. The Monorail opened in 1959. The expansion of the Monorail to the Disneyland Hotel happened in 1961.
