Pulled from the news section on IMDB.comMcDonald's To End Relationship with Disney
McDonald's has signaled that it is ready to end its exclusive marketing relationship with the Walt Disney Co., the Wall Street Journal reported today (Tuesday), citing people familiar with the situation. The newspaper said that McDonald's is anxious to play the field among animation companies, including DreamWorks Animation and Pixar, as it has watched the rival animation companies (Pixar is set to end its partnership with Disney next year) turning out hits, while Disney has been plagued by a string of animation flops. McDonald's franchisees, the Journal observed, have blamed those box-office duds in part for lower sales of Happy MealsI'm wondering if this will entail the removal of the McDonald's food stands at DLR.

That's a really good question. When they first put the stands in I didn't think they would do that well, but they always seem to be busy! The only time I have ever ate at one was during MA this year because those darn fries smell do good!

Here's a link to a Daily Herald article (http://www.dailyherald.com/business/businessstory.asp?id=58089) about the whole ordeal.

Hmmm, McDonald's partenering with Pixar or Dreamworks does sound smarter considering the crap Disney themselves has put out in the last couple of years (not including Pixar).

They have two locations in Disneyland that sell only french fries and a full restaurant in DCA. They also have a full restaurant in Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World.

The thread title is a little misleading as nothing has happened yet, so the tense on the verb "ends" is wrong. Also, it wouldn't necessarily be an end to the Disney-McDonald's relationship but rather they'll be able to date other people as well.

I would imagine the in-park presence will survive whatever new marketing relationship emerges unless Disney signs an exclusive relationship with another chain (unlikely).

I've never eated the McD's fries at Disneyland. I always consider it the same as why I wont eat at an Olive Garden/Red Lobster/Outback or Chili's when I go out of town. We have those restaurants here....if I'm going out in another town why on earth woud eat the same old stuff I can get here? Same with McD's fries at Disney.....why on earth would I get the same old junk I can get anywhere when I can get something else? :D

mmmmmmmmmmmm corndogs mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

of course now that I have 86'd all McD's from my life anymore its moot...but yeah...those were my reasons before :p

Honestly Karla...those family owned restaurants are the blessing. The chains are crap. Equating Olive Garden to authentic Italian food is like equating Taco Bell as authentic Mexican food.
When I lived in Pennsylvania I used to love these two particular places...they were both simple family owned local joints...but they were the best places evar! My favorite restaurant in Tennessee, also a simple local place.
Our best restaurants here in town are locally owned as well.
You dont know how lucky you have it.
Once the big chains come in to Small Town USA they kill the business for 'mom & pop' and trust me, thats bad for everyone. Those ones I mentioned there? Those are the only ones we have. Oh wait, I forgot Cracker Barrel...but then that is what we have as far as chains.
Now in a huge city....well thats hard to say....some local dives can stick it out...but so many more crumble.
It's like WalMart, Home Depot et al coming in and closing down the smaller stores.

But yeah sorry for the hijack.....back to your regularly scheduled topic. :D

It would be great imo if they got rid of McDonalds in DCA. I really hate that whole area (route 66). I would like a seaside toen of something classier there.
