Well, I have Norton, but for that I just have to hold down the control button while I'm clicking something to temporarily disable the pop-up blocker. See if that works for you.

assuming you mean the one built into IE,

Tools -> Options -> Security -> Custom Level...

scroll down a bit and you should see an option that says something like

Use Pop-Up Blocker

click on Disable, then click OK

i've actually found that all of the free pop-up blockers like IE, Google, AOL and assorted others actually do a really crappy job at blocking things (or I should say that they block too much).

There are certain rules that should be followed, like if you click on a link that's meant to open a pop-up, the pop-up should come up since you initiated it. A lot of pop-up blockers still block them anyway.

In any case, I use a program I gladly paid $25 for which blocks popups with 100% effectiveness, allows me to customize what sites don't get blocked, filters out advertising (in all programs, not just the browser) and does some other neat tricks. I've never had a spyware problem since installing it.

bradk, would that be Ad Muncher (http://www.admuncher.com/), perchance? If not, let me plug it anyway: Ad Muncher is the absolute best ad blocker/popup blocker I've used, and I've used a lot of them. It's not free, but it's worth every penny.

Thanks, all.

I needed to disable to download an update. I found that if you click on a bar at the top of the screen, you can allow pop-ups from the site in question.

Yes, I am slow.
