May 25th -

I'm signed up for a 5K on Saturday morning. I'm not expecting to do good- I can't run for 3 miles non-stop. I can barely run 10 min. non-stop. And I'm not fast - I dare say some people can walk faster than I slog thru at a jog.

I'm concerned....

tell, those of you who have participated in these things before, what is this I hear about being "swept up in it" - that is to say, is the "running" infectious? Will I experinence a little bit of something extra within myself due to the fact that I am part of a group?

How pathetic - it's 3 dang miles, not 100.

Yes, you will experience some adrenaline.

I trained for my marathon for 6 months. I would go long distances, but I would do a run/walk split. The most I ran at one time during training was 5 miles. But on the day of the marathon I was able to run the first 10 miles no problem. I probably would have been able to go further if my didn't hurt.

Also, don't wear headphones. I found listening to the crowds and the people around me kept me going faster.

Don't worry! You'll do great! You're not out to break records, just to have a good time.
