Hi,

I just got a Disney Visa card and it states that I can get a free stroller rental at the parks. I was going to take my own, but my daughter is 5 1/2 years old and won't need the stroller until the afternoon when she gets tired. The stroller that I have barely fits her and I was told here that the strollers available at the parks can hold a larger child. My question is this. If I show up in the afternoon to rent one at either of the parks, are they usually available or sold out by the morning? I also wondered, I know that you can't take them out of the parks to go back to the hotel to rest, so do you have to turn in the stroller and rent another one when you come back in the afternoon?

Thank you
Lorrie

Both DCA and DL rent out strollers. I would venture to take a guess that the strollers at DL would be rented out sooner than the ones at DCA. So you might have a chance at some strollers being available from DCA. However, depending on how late in the day it is before you decide to rent a stroller there might be some early returns from those who rented a stroller in the morning.

I have never seen either location rented out, and I have rented at all times during the day. I do avoid the parks on busy days though. If you save your receipt, you just go back after your rest and they will give you another one. Many people staying at the GCH just leave theirs by the entrance to the GCH from DCA and then grab it when they come back.

Oh, and a side note before I forget -- DLR started placing temporary nametags on the strollers so that people can identify which rented stroller belongs to the family. The last name is written on an 8x10" paper and the slipped into a opaque plastic cover on the overhead canopy. This also helps with the organization for the rental office to keep track of the strollers when they are rented out and then returned later.

Have you ever carried a sleeping 5 year old farther than a restaurant to the car? Personally, I'd bring a stroller.

I think they would have strollers left, but then, I never pay much attention. The only thing with bringing your own is that you would have to load it in and out of the tram, where you could probably wake up your 5 1/2 year old enough to walk it if they had been not walking all afternoon. I've seen some pretty old kids in the strollers, they are like big jogging type strollers.

Do the strollers have drink holders?

Do the strollers have drink holders?no, but they have a mesh sack on back i use to situate my drinks somewhat upright when i'm on a ride. pushing them holding a drink is a challenge.

I saw the website that outlines the Disney Card benifits. I already have a card. What kind of info did they tell you.... is the free stroller rental a coupon or just a "show your card" deal? What about the "preferred parade viewing"? It says "advance reservations required". I wondered if anyone who paid for their trip with the Disney card could use this benifit or if you got a coupon.

I tried to reach Disney Visa today to ask them about this promo, they referred to to AAA and AAA referred me back to Visa. The operator at Chase said he knew nothing about this promo and told me they'd call me back after they reasearch it. Grrrrr

I paid for a 2 night Disneyland Hotel Resort package with my Disney card... but it was like 3 months ago that I paid.

Thanks SOOOO much for ANY info you can give me!

I think that the stroller thing may be a show your card and save thing. I'm not quite sure. The preffered parade viewing I believe is if you book through Disney Visa. I don't know that you would get those benefits of the package listed if you booked through someone else and then paid with your Disney Visa.

Are there five year olds who fall asleep in a stroller or restaurant? That would be highly unusual IME.

Not my now-6-y/o but my middle son's godmother's kids did fall asleep in their strollers at DLR. We were watching fireworks and they just pooped out.

I do think that at night, after a long day at the park, I've been grateful to be able to just push my then 5-y/o in the stroller out of the park. It makes keeping track of him much easier and we're not dragging him along - even if he's awake he'll be pretty tired.

My 6 y/o tires easily and on our trip last December slept in the stroller while we were waiting for F! to begin.

I'm jealous. Mine doesn't even fall asleep in the car after a full day of activity. She is the energizer bunny and she seems conditioned to only want to sleep in a bed. I'm already worried about our 2006 spring break trip to London as I don't know if she'll be able to sleep on the plane.

We booked through the WD Travel Co and paid for the package with the Disney Visa card and our package states that we have preferred seating for Snow White and the Parade.

I noticed yesterday that they now have some further savings on eating, mercandise, and tours you might want to check if you haven't already. I haven't seen the free stroller rental deal though.
