Just got back from a quick trip last week. My husband and I noticed how crazy most people are with strollers. We got ran over numerous times. I was amazed by peoples lack of respect. Just needed to rant. Anyone else have this problem? How do you deal with it? It kind of ruins the fun feeling.

Ever since i was little people have been chasing me with strollers. Someone even stole my brother's and I's once.

People always run over my feet with their strollers. I've grown just to laugh at it now.

Maybe you're walking too slow. Maybe it's not everyone else with the problem.
Just maybe.
Or maybe we need another 200+post thread about strollers.

we aren't saying everyone else has a problem. just some of the people with strollers.

(I did say "maybe.")

There are some rude people armed with strollers. Of course there are. Rude people come in all types, sizes, and ammunition.

Just saying that if you are a frequent target of rude people with strollers, there is one subject that is constant in the facts. I mean, don't discount it with an unobjective view. Check to see if you're going too slow, if you're in Fantasyland for an inordinate amount of time (that land seems to have the most stroller-related traffic jams), etc.

I'm also saying that it is nearly impossible to change these rude people. I mean, everytone here with a stroller, I'm almost positive, would never use it as a battering ram. Posting here won't convert the rude ones.
I think a lot of stroller-rollers don't even realize what they've done or how much it might hurt. They're just not paying attention. Should someone smack my Achilles, I would confront them to clear them of their ignorance on the subject.
Back when I was stroller-rolling, I made sure that either I was in front of the stroller or my wife was. And we're still married!

Okay I am one with a stroller. And I try my bet not to run into people and if I do I appoligize. That is if it is my fault. But like the wheel chairs I can not tell you how many times people think it is okay to cut right in front of me and expect me not to hit them. I can not stop a stroller that is going in full motion at a spilt moment because some idot is in such a ruch they need to cut infront. So to those people I will not appologize.

As I suspected, people with strollers here aren't rude. They're the nicest people in the world. (Except me. I'm a royal pain.)

For strollers abusers, I start with the evil eye, and go toward postal from there.

yes, this has been debated many times with no agreement...non stroller users hate being smacked by strollers...stroller users blame non stoller users for cutting them off or stopping short in front of them..they can't stop on a dime ...(funny that argument doesn't work with car accidents...LOL)...however, to be honest I haven't been hit by a strooler in years. I do go to great lengths to avoid them though..:)

Hi, I'm a mommy with three strollers. One's even a really expensive tandem double. And one of my biggest pet peeves is the rash generalization that- 1- everyone, or even 'most people' with strollers are rude and that 2- everyone or even 'most people' who've been hit with strollers are innocent victims.

This is a classic long on-going online debate:

People with strollers run into pedestrians.

Pedestrians cut of people pushing strollers.

People pushing strollers can't stop on a dime.

People pushing strollers are trying to keep up with their families and even if you don't think you're cutting them off, you may not realize how badly you've separated them, then people get between you and them and now they're even MORE separated and after a few hours of this, them stroller drivers, we get just more assertive.

Those people with strollers shouldn't bring their kids to Disneyland if they can't handle walking! Why, when I was a child, we walked and we stayed with our parents and we LIKED it. Parents these days don't discipline their kids enough and don't expect them to behave! If they did, they could just leave those strollers at home and we wouldn't have this problem!

Who brings a baby to Disneyland anyway? Babies can't handle Disneyland! They don't get any enjoyment out of it! It's Child Abuse!

Well you can just walk a mile in my shoes. My son's eyes light up when he goes on (insert ride here- usually Small World, Pooh, a train, etc.) There's something to be said for FAMILIES enjoying themselves together and we can enjoy ourselves as a family at Disneyland. Walt Disney said that he made Disneyland so FAMILIES could enjoy themselves together. And that's what we're doing.

How dare you tell me I can't take my stroller to Disneyland, you Nazi! Godwin's Law, Thread Closed.

It's a dog-eat-dog world out there. How'd I do? I probably missed something on either side.

Yeah, I get way defensive. I know how often I've been cut off. Or how hard it is to keep up with my family in a crowd. And sometimes I've hit people in my effort to keep up with my husband and children. And sometimes I've just been downright cut off by people and it's like a semi-truck: I can't stop on a dime.

I apologize. Usually. Sometimes if it's most obviously not my fault, I don't. But I'm really strict with myself about accepting responsibility when I've needed to.

But yeah, Disneyland's full of strollers, that's for sure.

I do believe that there are two sides to this story, though. Both sides can handle being more understanding and courteous.

wow I didn't read all that in this thread(oh everyonline debate ever...I get it now.:))...I have pushed strollers at DL before...for some reason I could stop on a dime and push it all day without getting seperated from my family or hitting people. However, the last time my child was in a stoller at DL she was 3...from that point on she walked. I don't get hit with stollers anymore either. People just have to be aware of them and avoid them. I will either let them go ahead of me or if they are going slow I will go to the other side of the walkway and walk ahead of them...there is no cutting right in front of them because thats when they are checking out ROA or a chracter and they slam into you....so just be aware that they are not rude, but they are excited to be in DL and not always paying attention to where they are going...and that is not limited to stroller pushers....I get walked/ran into more by people just wandering about without looking where they are going. I'm getting better at avoiding that though. I just try to anticipate where they may go beforehand...LOL

Didn't realize this was such a sensitive subject. I did say I needed to rant, but did not expect to be bombarded with the comments I've gotten. Neither my husband or I cut in front of people, stop suddenly in front of them (though many people with strollers did that to us). I'm not saying people with babies shouldn't go to the park (I know I will). What I am saying is just because you have a stroller does not give you a special priveledge in the park. Everyone should be on the look out for other people, and should be aware of their surroundings.

No one's disagreeing with this.

Just like you don't want to be unfairly villified as people who "caused" strollers to hit you, stroller users don't all want to be unfairly villified as insensitive clods. :)

I'm not trying to make all stroller users seem bad. I'm just relating what happened to us on our trip. It may not have happened to anyone else, but it most certainley did happen to us. Maybe it was because it was the end of the 2fer, I don't know. But the alot (not all-I never said all) of people with strollers were crazy that Thurs and Friday.

Well, maybe you shouldn't start threads. Just maybe.

(Just maybe I'm just kidding. Told you I was a royal pain.)

And just maybe don't get on the wrong side of adriennek!

If you are never cutting in front of those with strollers, or stopping short in front of them, next time you are at the Park, check out the amount of people w/o strollers that do the above and you will understand where we are coming from...

Some people are rude...has nothing to do with having a stroller or not. Many of us with srollers get stuck in crowds because people choose to just run around us and then we get yelled at for not moving fast enough. Been on both sides and jut remember when you don't have a stroller you're having a much easier time at DL so give those of us with strollers a break.
