Alex S. 05-09-2001, 09:48 AM Only Moderators or Administrators can delete or close threads and specific posts. If you want a thread you started closed, let the moderator for that forum know and they'll take care of it when they can. If you think a thread started by someone else should be closed, feel free to let a moderator know and it will be left to their discretion. Our general policies on deletions is to avoid them. We like to maintain the integrity of this board's history and also we want people to be careful with what they say and how they say it. The big exception is if someone accidently starts the same thread multiple times, we'll delete the extras; otherwise the post/thread is going to have to be a pretty egregious violation of our policies to be deleted. If you feel something should be deleted, feel free to ask but don't be surprised if the answer is no. If someone says something they later regret, they'll just have to apologize, not hope a moderator will make it go away. I know you want "to maintain the integrity of this board's history and also we want people to be careful with what they say and how they say it," but that history, as well as what they say can be changed within the editing window anyways so why not allow a brief window for deletion too. I am sure its been discussed with the other moderators in detail so the policy wont change but i just wanted to add my two cents. |
