My wife and I already bought our 5-day parkhopper tickets through AAA, but our 2 year old doesn't need a ticket because he gets in for free. Question is, do I have to wait in the ticketing line to get a ticket for my 2 year old? If so, would I need to wait in line everyday? I would like to streamline as much as I can.
BTW, when our parkhopper tickets arrived, I was amazed at how small the tickets were. How do they know when you are eligible to be let in for early entry? By the barcode or magnetic strip? I'm also scared of losing these tickets....or getting them wet when on rides. Any advice? Thanks!

We took our 2.5 yo nephew and he was able to just walk right in.

Those have a plastic case on them that you can keep your ticket and any fastpasses in to keep them dry and safe. Just make sure you don't accidentally rip the plastic case off the lanyard (like my DH did on the Matterhorn  ).

No ticket required. You tell them at the gate that he is 2.
How do they know when you are eligible to be let in for early entry? By the barcode or magnetic strip? I'm also scared of losing these tickets....or getting them wet when on rides. Any advice?
Not sure which it is, but I believe it is via the bar code. I have never seen them read the stripe on my tickets/passes... They just hold the bar code under the scanner. I always keep mine in my wallet and have never had a problem.

Your 2 year old does not need a ticket at all...(Our daughter just turned 3) so there is no need to for you to have to wait in ticketing lines since you already have yours! :) You do not need to also worry about getting fast passes for your little one, though most of the rides that taken them, she/he may be too small to go on (less PotC, Buzz Lightyear, Haunted Mansion etc..) hieght requirement wise...
To be honest I have not had the chance to get early entry, but i believe on your ticket, when it is scanned, it will let the cast at the main gates know about your early entry privledges...since you are staying at a DLR hotel, you can double check with guest services at the hotel just in case...
Have a wonderful time! :)

Be sure to ask about Kid Swap/Switch. For those big rides your little one can't go on, ask for a Kid Swap pass - first adult rides while 2nd stays with child then once first is off, second can go up the exit with Kid Pass and get right on. You will ride alone but at least you get to ride! We have a bold 5 year old so he got to ride those kind of rides twice, once with each of us while we each waited with our 2 yr old twins. He loved it!

It has been my experience in my trips to DL that the CMs at the gate don't say a word about the child, especially in a stroller. I am sure if you were trying to push through a stroller with a large child in it, they may ask for a ticket. I know on our recent trip in March, my 3yo was excited to use his new AP, and the CM didn't even look at him to take it from him. I had to point out that he had it, to her.
