This is the worst move Knotts has ever done in my opinion. That ride was historical in that park and was the last themed attraction. If you guys can do anything contact Knotts and complain because that darn park is loosing the little theme that it had which made it better then six flags. I mean what next, get rid of the calico mine train?

Everyone please call this number and complain, they listened to me and were very concerned as well: (714) 220-5200
Or email this to complain: guestcomments@knotts.com

Could you elaborate a little more?

(In old-man, scientist voice) "We're going back, back in time!"

I liked this ride. It wasn't my favorite there, but we definitely had to go on it when we went there. I will be sad if it really goes...

The ride is old and need to be updated or replace, Ever since they change the loading and unloading. The Ride stops twice in the middle of the ride. Plus it takes an hour to wait for the ride.

I must admit I am glad that ride is gone. It sucked after they changed the loading and added the stops. I also don't really think it is a historical ride for Knott's. I really wish they would bring back Knott's Berry Tales. Now THAT was a historical KBF ride!

PS- If they ever change Calico Mine Ride or Timber Mountain Log Rid, then I will complain!

I wonder what they will put there? I heard they already moved some of the stuff to the Log Ride a month ago.

I can think of a lot of words to describe "Kingdom of the Dinosaurs", but "historic" is definitely not one of them. To replace the classic "Knott's Beary Tales" with something as lame and stupid as that ride? And then to make it lamer and stupider [sic] by slower it down to an ant's walk and put a stop in the middle? We wandered by there yesterday and all evidence of the ride is gone except for the dinosaur statue in the vicinity. Let's hope the Knott's folk actually put a DECENT ride in there next time.

'Knott's Beary Tales' replacement by this lumbering dolt of a ride was a sad move. You can read more about the ride in my book Scary Dark Rides (Free to read on line at http:209.150.104.203 )
The initial concept of the Extinction of the 'Saurs was changed after the first year or so to a ride with amost no story...it initially made little kids cry from sadness rather than be delighted at the big Country Fair finale of 'Tales'...

Let's hope it's another dark Ride going in and that care and attention to detail is carried forward from the old days of...well...care and attention to detail.

Life is getting scary as hell...cstephens and I are agreeing on stuff! :fez:

Um, KotD has been shut down and all signage removed since approx. December 21, 2004. From what I understand, certain effects from KotD have already been placed in the Timber Mt. Log Ride (trees, wolf things, moons & stars, "eyes"). Although I admire the OP's lament on lost attractions, I personally would not call KotD historic. Of more concern to me is the removal of things like the Haunted Shack, the original Berry Stand, and the mission dioramas.

I, too, would like to see a new dark ride go in that space.

I haven't been there in a few years, whats the deal with the stop in the middle?

This is a thought that I have had about KOD.. why would they change from omnimover to stop and load? When they changed Berry tails they keeped the same track and cars so maybe the moter was going bad and couldn't handle the weight or the power needed to move all the cars thru, less cars less weight would keep the ride open and not have to rehab the moter.

I Did Knotts time from 89-92 as a ride op, and I do miss the feel the park had, but for the price you pay I feel you get what you pay for. Knotts half the park of Disney and you pay half the price to get in.:D

I'm with you. I haven't been to Knott's for years now. I still miss the soap box racers. Those were my favorite!

I was mad when they put in the soap box racers because it replaced my other favorite ride - the motorcycle chase.

The Motorcycle Chase = Best ride ever. (Well, at Knott's anyway). I also miss Corkscrew and the Parachute Jump.

Knotts for me (I grew up in So Cal, moved out in 1992) was about Calico Ghost town, the little devil that operated the volcano, the Haunted RR Shack, Calico Ghost Mine and the Log ride. Everything else was fluff - Ok, but not the reason I loved the park.

Then when they started the Knott's Scary Farm we had a blast. We'd take a friend who was so jittery, every "boo!" would send her screaming - So I'd walk behind the pack and point her out to the ghouls rofl.

Then I think the third year, we're in CGT and there is all this dry ice across the street, very cool and creepy and this ghoul comes up behind her and starts chasing her, all around up and down the plankwalks, for like a minute. We were dying! Then he starts to call out her name and she stops, turns around and starts hitting him as it was her brother-in-law under there HAHA oh man that was so awesome.

Those were fun times.......

I count myself lucky to have seen the "Knott's Beary Tale" ride when I did (though I was young, I admit). I ended up taking my niece and nephew on the Dinosaur version about 10 years ago and being distinctly underwhelmed by the experience. :-p

Knott's Beary Tales and Haunted Shack Rule! I loved those rides. I especially miss trying to walk through that shack on that tilted ground during Knott's Scary Farm!

The soap box derby was fun. I had always wished I could have been on that ride when all four lanes were in operation.

I remember that too mukta! Yes it was a ride before, in the location where Kingdom of the Dinosaurs was/is now.

I also remember Soapbox Car Racers. I loved that ride also and have fond memories of going with another family and having competitions! What fun! I recently read a really interesting story about the development of that ride.
