Ok..I am sitting here staring at a WDW Passporter Deluxe Edition that I ordered for a customer who decided she did not want it. Have you ever used one of these in your planning and what is your honest opinion about it? It has refillable pages so I could use it in the future. I have always just typed out my notes and times and this can be a pain- papers get mangled in the backpack, etc.
Let me know what your thoughts are on this "guide"- I will read current travel guides before we go again but I thought this may help me with planning for more people this go around.

I have a Passporter, and I find it really useful. I like the fact that I can keep all my notes and records for our PS's, etc. right in the book. It is also well-organized, and it is so easy to read the reviews of attractions and restaurans (from both adult and kid perspectives), and the maps are good. It is in a format that is more user-friendly then many guides-not just big blocks of text, but highlighted areas, for fast reference. It is also useful as a travel diary, and I can take notes and include things I will want to use when I make our trip scrapbook.

We like it because we can update it every year and we also use it to hold ps , airline tickets and other things we might need and it fits in a backpack or large purse. Fun reading on the ariline too.

I love mine. I will be able to keep all my notes and the pockets are nice for holding receipts.

I love Passporter. It's a nice, breezy read for those days when I'm not up to the encyclopedic nature of the Unofficial Guide (which is great in its own way).

How exactly is the Pass Porter layed out, I was looking for it in bookstores, and haven't seen one, though I know they have it at Amazon. Is it a guidebook, or really just more of an organizer?

All of the above. There are informational sections on the parks, hotels, and restaurants, with mini-reviews, and fold-out maps, and sections with trip planning advice. In the back, there are pockets for each day, with room to make notes and record plans and memories. It's a fast reference guide and organizer.

You can order direct from passporter.com and you can use ALLEARS for the coupon code. I think that will give you 20-30% off.

I also really like the PassPorter. I especially like the way they rate all of the rides. I bought almost every available book last year, and this was probably my favorite and the most useful!

If you go to passporter.com, I believe that they have sample pages that you can download.

Thanks for all the input...I am going to buy the 2005 version I have at the bookstore now and they just buy the refills for 2006 when they are available. I like the leather case and I was really impressed with the dining section and with the ride ratings as well. I know we are not going until Dec 2006 but it does not hurt to start talking about things since there are so many people going this time and we want to do stuff that will keep everyone happy. I mean we will be on our own at times but still we want to stay as a group most of the time.
I will get the Birnbaums guides when they come out as well. I think that will do it though. Between Birnbaums and the Passporter I should be set (and mouseplanet as well :)) Fodor's was great for our first trip there but we will see. It may be repetitive. Of course, I say that now but once I see them for order in my book catalogs, I am sure I will buy them :).
I would never buy the Everything guide to WDW again though...I thought that was a waste of my time to read.

I love my Passporter, I can write down all my reservation numbers, store my tickets so I don't lose them and the pull out color maps are completely fabulous. :) It also goes into detail about each resort, the perks, which building you should/should not chose etc.. I learned a lot of new things I didn't before and found it very informative without being an encyclopedia read.

Another benefit of the Passporter is that if something happens DURING the year (especially if you're going at the end of the year) you can download the updated pages. For instance, when they changed the PS timetable in August '03, and I think they had updates for Pop Century due to the timing of the opening and the publishing schedule.
For comprehensive, though, I also like the Unofficial Guide. Birnbaum's is a nice overview without too much information overload.
