My DD just turned 8 a week ago and has been to DL twice in her young life and to DW in early 2004. She has never gone on Raiders of the Lost Ark before due to the height requirement, but now could "officially" go...I can't decide if she should try it on our next trip ( in 2 weeks) or not. She has seen some pictures, has seen the movie (more or less with some crafty editing on my part)...she says she wants to go, but I know how intensive the ride can seem for some adults...I personally LOVE the ride as does my DS (13 yrs old) and DH...anyone out there with a daughter this age and have they tried the ride? good experience/bad experience?

my daughter went on Indy the first time at 8 yrs old. it is and has been one of her favorites since the first ride. she rode repeatedly.
now to give you some perspective she also loves CA screamin' in fact she kept her arms raised the entire ride (the adults didn't even do that.)
so if your daughter is a bit spunky and likes fast rides I think she'll be fine.
some of the effects are rather intense (I will try to post the effects in a spoiler tag, just in case you have not been on it and want to know what to expect...but if you don't want to ruin the surprise for you skip my next post)

Ok I can not make it work, if you want to know PM me and I'll be happy to tell you about it.
Or someone that is better at the spoiler tags would you be so kind as to assist.

My six-year-old tried it last month and loved it. If she's seen the movie and wants to go on it, I would let her.

When it first opened my youngest sister was about 7. She was ready to go and then FREAKED OUT in line. This was in the days of the three hour lines where you stood in the cave with the spikes coming down. We tried to get her to go on but she wouldn't so she just waited next to the ride (which caused a small prob when we unloaded on the other side!). She went on a few years later and loved it. The mine is nowhere near as scary as it used to be so if she likes thrill rides, I would go for it. If she is okay on HM, she will probably be OK on Indy.

My Son went on it for the first time at age 5.........he didn't freak out or any thing but has refused to go on it again since...not even on a recent trip in which he was nearly 9 years old

My dd was 5 1/2 when she went on it. She is already talking about going on it again this fall. The only thing that scared her was when I pushed on the pole when we walked through the queue. She thought the ceiling was going to fall on us. LOL

My dd who is 6 went on it for the first time last month and hated it. she said she had her eyes closed most of the time, only opening it when the "big ball came down and it was funny to see my mommy duck." She watched indy before we left and i explained to her what the ride was like but she still didn't like it. On the other hand she LOVED screamin'...rode it 16 times on our trip, 11 times in a row on one night. she now says that screamin is her favorite ride and can't wait to ride it again. i think it's the visual things that she doesn't like (refused to go on tower of terror)...but loves SPEED and DROPS...

Thanks to all who responded - my DD LOVES Mulholland Madness (calls it the little fast roller coaster) since she was 4...and also loved Mission Space in WDW when she was 7...so I guess she has more "spunk" than I gave her credit for - Indiana Jones, here we come!
p.s....she has actually told me she is considering California Screamin' - so thanks to all that gave me there feedback on that ride as well!
only 15 more sleeps to go!
