I created a new thread so this wouldn't get lost on the other Simpsons string.

Re: The Simpsons movie...here's the reply I got from a friend who is a Production Supervisor on the show....

"Unfortunately, there is no Simpsons movie in the works. There was a convention in England that Matt, the producers and writers went to. When asked for the thousand-th time when a movie would be out, the Exec. Prod., just waved his hand and said "in the summer". The press took his word and hinted at the story, but he told me he just said that so they'd quit asking. So again, nothing in the works yet."

So...there you have it. End of story. So far. It will be, someday!

Thanks for the info!

Well, in a way I'm disappointed. But one of the best things about the Simpsons is their ability to write stories that start with one thing, lead to a completely different thing, and get everything resolved and back to normal in under a half an hour. To be honest, I can't even imagine what a full-legnth Simpsons movie would be like (maybe that's what would be so great about one?).

I always had the opinion that Bevis & Butthead were brought down by that awful feature movie.

I feel you are right..they belong on the tube in 30 minute segments.

But who knows..these are some real genius writers at work on the show. Maybe as long as they didn't rush it.
I would love to see a big Halloween movie with them though!!! woohoo!

Yeah, the Treehouse of Horror eps are definitely one of the best features of the show. (Quoth the Raven: "Eat my shorts.")

Agreed...When i read that other thread i was scared they were making a movie. Though they might pull it off very well i think it could have easily been stupid.

Stick with the 30 min shows, they are genius!!!

Just got an E from the 'horses mouth' that the character voices just signed contracts for TWO Simpsons movies...but the word is the movies will NOT be produced/released till AFTER the Simpsons leave the air..probably in two years.

"The Simpsons" aren't leaving the air any time soon (though some people might argue that it's time) - the actors just signed contracts covering the next two seasons, with an option for a third.

AK Wolf, I hope you're right! The Simpsons need to continue forever! (Or at least until I'm senile enough so that I don't notice that I'm only watching reruns.)

NOTE MY POST..which means READ it..it say's the Simpsons PROBABLY will leave the air in TWO YEARS..(ie: Two Seasons)..The idea that they want the movies to be AFTER the air run..kind of seals the fate.

I resent the fact that you don't think I (we?) read your post. I read it. It's the IDEA of the Simpsons going off the air that bothers me. And the idea that there MAY be MORE than two more seasons coming up is comforting, even if it's not true. Just because they want the movies to come after the series ends doesn't necessarily mean that will happen--I remember hearing a similar rumor about the X-Files movie a while back. Anything can happen. Maybe the animators can't work on both a TV series and a film at the same time--I'd like to think they could, but I don't know enough about animation to even hazard a guess.

What I'm wondering is what will they do for a movie.

So much material has already been used for the tv series. What's left for a movie ?

Maybe it will be live action--

with Alec Baldwin playing Homer, Susan Sarandon playing Marge, Christina Ricci playing Lisa, and Leonardo DiCaprio playing Bart.

Well..Lisap...if you drop the 'by' you are left with an archaic (old English term I believe) for a lady's private part.

Oh my. Is that why they gave the Mayor that name? Boy, I sure learned something new today!

It's mid-eighteenth century, and of unknown origin, according to the OED. I was hoping for a more interesting etymology, but oh well . . .

I suppose the creators of the Simpsons were more aware of this word when they named thier mayor than I was a few minutes ago. hehe
